You're a life saver! We have a chapter quiz around 3 hours from now and I can't remember a thing from our class cause our professor keeps talking about her travels and my textbook contains too much word for me to understand. Now I feel like I've read the whole chapter within 18 minutes 😭 THANK YOU 💕

I've never commented on a KZbin video before but I had to this time as I've been trying to absorb the information about lipids as I study nutrition and this is the first thing that has really made it sink in. You're a great teacher, your students are very lucky! Thanks for the help

Great video! 2 thoughts: 1: it's a condensation reaction, not dehydration synthesis. 2: In my opinion, sprinkling in conventional "wisdom" about lipids as related to health is too and should be left out.

This was a great help for people to use in learning biology, but I note that it was made almost 3 years ago. Since then, much more information has come out about the relative benefits of saturated versus polyunsaturated fats. For instance, there's a book called "The Great Big Fat Surprise". Would you still tell students that saturated fats are bad to eat and polyunsaturated are good?

That's great that you liked the video! Thanks! Yes, I realize that I say some things in the videos that may be misconstrued such as the one you mentioned. But I made this video for 9-10th graders who are just being introduced to these concepts. The video is just a method for me to give them the major content. We later have discussions on more detail and other topics which is where we would discuss that saturated fats are necessary and not always "bad". However, it IS true that unsaturated fats ARE healthier than saturated ones. I will try to check out that book. It sounds interesting. Thanks for your input!

Good explanations ! But we know now that the healthiest fats, and the ones that we are missing because of all the crazy recommandations that came from the insane cholesterol-causative myth, are the saturated ones. Polyunsaturated fats are highly toxic and pro-inflammatory as well as pro-oxydative. Need for omegas 3 and 6 is near 0 as studies have shown.
