Very happy to see both of you try out the eating habits of most Singaporeans, i.e., having meals at hawker centres. It will take you a while to try out all the good recommendations. Good job ! On a side note, I’m disappointed to see people dropping comments without checking out the term ‘穷人恩物’ (I goggled it although I’m a Cantonese). I’m sure no one expects ‘raining cats and dogs’ to mean ‘cats and dogs falling from the sky’.

Bendemeer Hawker centre is a place where locals go to. You are lucky to be staying near there. We will go there on occasion :D In fact this today I visited the Dignity Kitchen at Book Keng. Hong Lim Hawker is usually more crowded during the weekdays as the place serves people working around the area. Most hawkers close during the weekends. I used to work around there and that is my favourite place for lunch. One of my favourite stalls there is Cantonese Delights but they are not open on weekends, miss their food! Ji Ji wanton mee is actually famous for their wanton mee not curry mee LOL! You need to squeeze the lime onto the sting ray! Penang is a food paradise!! Miss the place
Chomp Chomp hawker center will be one of the checkpoint! :D

Hi Nice video and introduction to those very delicious hawker food.🎉 But please do not say hawker centre 穷人恩物。it create divide sub consciously. In Singapore, people from all walks of life eat at hawkers. This is our social cohesion tradition. 新加坡大家都去小贩中心没有什么阶级之分。这也是我们社会凝聚力的一部分❤ Keep up the good KZbin effort❤ Lau pa Sak is actually from colonial day. You can find a similar structure at Melbourne Victoria market 😊

HELLO why did you say hawker centres are for "poor people"?!!
@wwyan88 Жыл бұрын
Ruby did not mean hawker centres are for poor people only. They just shared a place for inexpensive fast food in a Hong Kong people’s mindset. In Hong Kong, there are less local restaurants or food centres providing food lower than SGD5-6. I believe they were happy to enjoy delicious food in reasonable price range. For Hongkongers, sometimes “poor people” doesn’t mean guys have no money at all, it always implies most of the Hong Kong labours would rather spend less money in daily life. Even a worker earns a high salary he can also claim he is a poor guy. Not completely a negative adjective.
It was first built in 1824 as a fish market on the waterfront serving the people of early colonial Singapore and rebuilt in 1838. It was then relocated and rebuilt at the present location in 1894. It is currently a food court with stalls selling a variety of local cuisine. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lau_Pa_Sat#:~:text=It%20was%20first%20built%20in,a%20variety%20of%20local%20cuisine
