Dooley you're the type of American whose behavior we have to apologize for when we go overseas!!! America has *the* lowest electricity cost in the world, and there's so much space here that the effect of keeping AC on all day may not feel significant in increasing the surrounding outdoor temperature, but that is not the rest of the world. Please respect that most other nations pay significantly more in electricity bills, and yes, lowering temperature indoors = increasing temperature outdoors = catalyze climate change!!! Don't contribute to this national embarrassment!!!

"America has the lowest electricity cost in the world"? are you kidding me? I have to pay at least $200 per month in avg. Even I may not like it that cold, but I have to agree with him that when he paid the rent for the room, that is his room and have the right to turn to whatever degree he likes. If there is such a limit, it has to be stated BEFORE so they can decide if they want to rent it. As he said, he followed the rules. If there is no such a rule, he doesn't have to do it.

@@kenwu453 ***Relative to standard of living/other necessity costs (CPI) You may pay $200 but how much do you make a year? Now, compare that to other nations' average salaries and percentage of electricity they're paying relative to their salaries. I agree on the concept of being able to turn the AC to whatever degree one likes after one rents the room... but it's about respect... Why keep it on for 10 hrs straight at the lowest possible degree when you can just turn it on when you get in, or at least keep it at a more reasonable AC temperature (like 23 C instead of 18 C) if you want to keep it on for 10 hrs straight? How would you feel if you were the hotel owner, and that difference could literally make or break your ability to *turn a profit*? They are talking about AirBnbs/boutique hotels, not corporate hotels here. Plus, the effect of super low AC on the climate can be drastic...
