I don't know about you, but that wrung my heartstrings! Andreas has the gift of all the greatest performers in any discipline - He puts his ego, I'm tempted to say soul, at the service of art. It is a rare and stunning form of dedication.

Wonderful. A perfect moment from an amazing opera production with an unbeatable cast. Everyone singing and acting beautifully and the staging being unusual but effective. I need to get the DVD out again or my soul will be bereft!!! Andreas Scholls voice is heart stoppingly beautiful in this aria.

​@@maitestorchi2497I like Fagioli but he and Scholl excel at different material. Fagioli is great at the fireworks but not so good at slower more emotional content. He is also less technically good - his, at times, lack of lyrical clarity and his 'acting ability' dont match Scholl's. I love Fagioli in Vinci operas where the singing and acting are very effective but over the top, but despite having some of his Handel recordings find his voice, to me, is not suited to this style. Similarly his Gluck Orpheo wasnt so well suited. Scholl, I dont think, could sing Vinci as well as Fagioli, but to me, he has a more beautiful and 'masculine' sounding counertenor voice and amazing emotional depth, clarity and technique, which suits Handel perfectly. I think Fagioli has a better vocal range than Scholl but his voice is not as beautiful to me and sometimes can sound a bit like someone doing a p**s take of a female opera singer (not all of the time by any means). I guess with most singers its a case of 'horses for courses' and what an individual finds affective or beautiful in someones voice.

I just got this DVD...magnificent! Gets better with each viewing. Great cast, especially Andreas Scholl! What superb artistry. Bravo!
