Narushima sensei recommends moving ones knee and kicking leg out sideways at the start of the kick, while at the same time rotating the opposite support shoulder backwards, stretching therefore the body backwards like a bow before releasing the arrow of the kick. Narushima sensei does not mention bows and arrows only that the body is twisted each side in opposite directions (thus bowing backwards) the body before releasing this tension in the kick. Normally it is recommended, at least in my dogo, that one rotates the support leg in the opposite direction as one kicks. Muay Thai practitioners move their support foot out sideways before kicking. But Narushima sensei makes no mention of rotating the support leg, and does not move it, only the support shoulder, without, or as little as possible, moving ones fists or even the height of ones elbow so as to telegraph as little as possible. The square of ones fists and elbows should remain at the same height. Wow. Very new. I am going to try it. I am only about three years older than Narushima sensei, the giant killer. I tried it, and I could not get any strength into my kick at all! I need to do some sort of preliminary stretch and strengthening.
