Wow, I have heard many times that Okinawan Karate came directly from China, and for me, someone that studies Choy Li Fut, I see a lot of similarities like the trapping at 2:35 that I really don't see with the mainland Japanese martial arts. That's just my personal observation though, I could be totally wrong.

Uechi Sensei's fists are so huge. The fists of a true BUDOKA.

They’re that big in person. His knuckles look like he’s done nothing but hit the makiwara for 60 years

Kata Tekki came from kata Naihanchi? Very similar...

Founders had the same master, both, Shorin-ryu and Shotokan-ryu, are sons of Shuri-te.

I remember learning this decades ago and the instructor saying that some call it Tekki and some Naihanchi but it was all in shiko/kiba dachi. And if I recall there were 3 or 4 of them.
@franciscoj59455 жыл бұрын
@@OrionBlitz256 yes, and actually the stance for that kata (in Shorin-ryu) is called "naihanchi-dachi", sensei Gichin Funakochi did the same stance, but later it become a kiba-dachi for Shotokan's practicioners.

I do not care about fighting or martial arts because I can run. I wonder what the story is behind his losing his eye
