This home is one of my more favorite French influenced designs as too many of them try to imitate the 17th century interior with a 19th century exterior and it doesn't work for me. They end up being to gaudy with dated motifs that don't match the modern lifestyle of the inhabitants which is exactly what the 17th century was trying to avoid. Yes, they wanted extravagance that paid homage to their history and legacy...but they also wanted their home to be modern with the latest and greatest that reflected the current times. And don't get me started on paintings of people who are neither related or even real, but look like period pieces. ;o(.
