Bringing you another what sold video, how I packed it and Ebay sold comps. Look for occasional longer videos like this in place of my longer Vlogs. Both styles of videos require a lot of time to make and edit and since I’m behind on sharing what sold videos, this is what I made for you. Besides, in the past few weeks there hasn’t been much for us to VLOG about. Mercari changes of course, but that’s another story and to give my take on it that will require a longer video! As always, thanks for watching, commenting, and subscribing, Vickie and Mark ~ Avante Avenue

You are the best packer! And you are the only seller that I follow that actually shows them packing their sales.

Thank you so much, Pat! I know that other resellers show pulling their stuff off shelves, but I’m not familiar with how much they show packing their sales. I will tell you this as to why I think they do not share packing videos and that is because they pay out so little on KZbin. Plus, why you see so many Goodwill shopping videos as they pay much more. Plus, I’ll add that making packing videos and editing them takes a lot more time and effort to making videos. Luckily, for me, it’s become second nature because I’ve been doing it so long now. I truly appreciate that you appreciate my videos!

Hi there, I just want to thank you and Mark for all you do to help out resellers, old and new. I'm relatively new to ebay and I first found you when I couldn't figure out how I could possibly safely ship some glass items. Sure enough, I not only found my solution in your videos but I stuck around because you provide real world advice and guidance on running an ebay business. I binge watched your videos after that and I've stuck around so I can garner more of your wisdom. Thank you very much.

Loved this video!!! You have taught me how to package everything. I had a buyer leave one of the best positive feedbacks I have received. She said that her item was wrapped so well that she could throw it off of a 2-story building, and it wouldn't break. It was a beautiful Empoli green glass brandy snifter . I wanted to comment on one of your past videos, but I got distracted. I received negative feedback about a month ago. It really upset me. It was an MA Hadley dinner plate. There were 2 manufacturers' flaws on it. It almost looked as if when the plate was fired, the glaze popped. I showed close-up pictures and, in my description, stated that these were flaws, not chips. The buyer said that she wished she had known that there were chips on the plate. I sent her a message stating that they were not chips. Of course, Ebay sided with her Item was exactly as described.
@AvanteAvenue10 ай бұрын
So happy for you that you’re receiving positive feedback on your packing! That’s always a great thing! As to your negative feedback situation, you can contact Ebay for business on Facebook and ask for their help to have it removed. They have helped me in other situations. If it’s not removable, think wisely on your reply to her comment and state the facts of what had already been disclosed in the listing to the buyer before purchasing. You can also add a statement about referencing all of the happy customers that you have and positive feedback. Once you post it, you can’t change it. But that’s what I recommend. Of course, if you reply before contacting Ebay for business and getting their help, they will not be able to remove the negative. So do that first. You’ll have to provide your accountant information to them by signing into your account for them to access it. But they’ll tell you that. Hope that helps and thank you, Sandy!

He recommended I purchase a BRAUN Aromaster 10 cup carafe still in its original box for $2.99, saying it should sell quickly on eBay. He was right! We sold it in 2 days for $19.99 plus shipping. Are you shipping the box USPS Priority? Their boxes may be free, but they’re not meant to be used as internal packing material. Same with padded flat rate envelopes. They are not free for the intent of internal packing material. It is misuse.

Opps, thanks for the knowledge, didn't know that. Will go back to using other boxes instead for the bottom and top of boxes to add protection. I do ship hard good and breakables as well, but it costs so much when you're buying boxes, bubblewrap and tape. I honestly wish we could add a small packaging fee. Auctions charge outrageous shipping fees. Clothes sellers simply stuff theirs in a poly mailer and it's on it's way. I do buy bubble wrap, but I rarely buy boxes. I scrounge around for those.
@AvanteAvenue9 ай бұрын
Yes, shipping materials can be costly. That's why we buy boxes in "bulk." Plus, I use a ton of ebay shipping boxes that we get with the quarterly coupon. I also order bubble wrap and other supplies in LARGE quantities to keep the cost low. Always know your cost "per" box and "per" square foot of bubble wrap. That will have you when shopping for the lowest price. Of course, quality is just as important. We do not use local bubble wrap at retail stores. It's poor quality, overpriced and not good enough for glassware. Hope that helps and thank you Avalon! Happy scrounging for supplies! I do a little of that too.

In fact, I bought some Yankee candle tarts recently and I’m storing them in a cool place until Fall. I can’t say that I’ve checked comps on them so I don’t know if they were worth anything or not. Scent is a legitimate concern. Although some candles are unscented. I didn’t smell anything when I opened the box and I’m very sensitive too scents. Thank you, Carole.

I have to know if you are aware of the amazing inflatable bubble packaging out there today and just choose not to use it or if you don't like it or had a bad experience? I buy these little balloons bags. I put in my item and blow it up and my item is instantly suspended between 2 layers of air perfectly surrounding the breakable. Sooooooo much faster safer and easier than all that bubble wrap and air cushions!!! It was listed as a trading card protector but I went down the rabbit hole and I've bought all the sizes. Sooooo much better and more cost efficient!
@AvanteAvenue9 ай бұрын
Haven’t heard of them, but you did mention that they are small. Very few of my fragile items are small. I looked up what you suggested and I can’t find any size but for well, trading cards. We make our own air pillows and I buy bubble wrap in volume which keeps the price per sq ft quite low. Please share the different sizes that you use. Thank you.

@AvanteAvenue I'm so excited. I found big ones on Amazon last night and i ordered some. I was using the small ones. It sandwiches your item and the air surrounds it. The ones I ordered last night are 10x12" and they go even bigger. I looked and found a seller with all sizes ( I put a link here but i don't see my comment so not sure if KZbin didn't like it so I'm commenting again lol) The thing I know we have to prevent is movement in the package and this allows you to not have to fill your package voids because it's totally secure. I am even able to ship some in bags and not boxes :) Make a video if you get some! :) I think you will be totally in love. Just look up inflatable shipping bubble or the like. I have a question 🙋🏻♀️ I’m wondering if it is safe to store glass inventory in my separate garage space. I know the weather can change a lot here in California. I’m wondering if the extreme cold or heat will crack glass items. I also store glass, brass, wood etc. Any suggestion?
@AvanteAvenue9 ай бұрын
I would be very apprehensive of storing glass items in a separate building and then bringing them into a warmer or cooler temperature. We always put a label on the outside of our glassware boxes, saying “please allow to come to room temperature before opening.”Because, sudden temperature changes could cause breakage. Our glassware is stored in our Ebay room, which is the same or similar temperature as the rest of the house. Slightly cooler than upstairs, but not by no cold. So that’s our take on it. As to brass, it should be fine. As to wood? It could possibly mildew or pick up an odd scent from being stored in a non-controlled temp building. We just went to a sale yesterday, and all of the stuff had been stored in a separate building from the house. It was obvious that they weren’t running any air or heat in the room and everything smelled very musty and mildew. we had to walk away from fabric, paper, wood, and plush items. We could smell the mildew from the building 10 feet away. So that’s my take on it. Thanks for asking.

For the most part, they pack "loosely" (they are called loose fill) and I prefer a firmer pack that fills the hollow area. They also are messy to work with both for us and I assume the buyer as they can scatter everywhere in seconds. It's a personal preference. Thanks for asking Carol!

Another helpful video! How long does it take to sell clear glass?
@AvanteAvenue10 ай бұрын
Thank you! How fast? Hard to say. These sales were within 90 days. We are long term sellers so time/storage isn't an issue for us. Always check your recent ebay sold comps.

I'm a new seller. After packaging, how do you weigh your box? Are you using eBay postage labels?
@AvanteAvenue9 ай бұрын
I weigh the item before listing and of course, after packing WITH a sample shipping label on top. We use PirateShip (free/not promoted) for our labels. Look for my video on weighing in on shipping. I made it just a month or so ago. Thank you Cindy!

A little bit can go along way if it’s good Bubble Wrap, the right size and use the best way. Thank you!
