I’m so happy to have found your channel ❤ . I’m 67 and have not retired yet. I’ve been waiting because I’m not sure yet so I might go part time. My Daughter started a side hustle and sells for PoshMark . I hadn’t mentioned that I was watching as the term is used for some resellers, flippers ! I’m actually intrigued watching everything that you guys do. My daughter wants to teach me about this 😂 Again, I’m so excited to have found you guys !

We have said that just about EVERY time we sell anything on eBay - LOL! Laughing all the way to the bank. We have a money market account - there is ZERO comparison on the return verses eBay return. INVEST? Our investment is for OUR benefit - not the banks! Most of the time at the end of the month, we are seeing a 10 times OR HIGHER return on our initial investment. And, its LEGAL! And, and then the legal tax deductions at the end of the year. And, sourcing is our entertainment. And, it helped put our son through university - just graduated in May. We are thrilled we can REUSE, RECYCLE, REPURPOSE and are the example of the PERFECT fit for the RRRs. We live rural on a dirt road. Our mail carrier is the best when the mailbox is full and an additional bag hangs from the mailbox - as he waves out at us as he turns around in our driveway to go the other way.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts about investing vs. ebay and more! Congrats on all you did for your son and we wish him the best in his career!

I live in a small town about 5000 population. The nearest bigger town is around an hour away. That said, some of my best sourcing of junk is my local thrift stores. I retired last November and started selling on eBay as a way to make some supplemental income. I’m still learning the ropes but I’m doing okay. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on sourcing and selling!

It will be donated to our church for a yard sale. I love selling junk!! It is the best job I’ve ever had!! I can’t believe what people pay for things!! Enjoying your videos!! Well said. I too have been seeing these comments on various reselling sites. Made me scratch my head. Agree with you. What the heck do they mean by junk? It is amazing what you can sell. The most surprising to me was various paper ephemera. Things that used to be thrown away. Examples: greeting cards, match books, playing cards, ticket stubs etc.. I have sold them all. I told my brother, where else can I take $1 and turn that into $30. No investments I know would give me that kind of roi. I find I focus on finding and selling one of a kind items. Often no competition for the items from other resellers. I am lucky I can find that kind of inventory and most resellers are focused on electronics, clothes or shoes etc. in my area. So they pass over items I would pick up. I get picking up certain items because they are in demand - and I also will pick up clothes from time to time. But not much. Next time I see another “junk” comment, I am going to ask the poster what they mean. We all sell junk. Totally agree.

Yes, it is amazing what we can resell for good (and great) profit! Thank you Brenda for sharing your thoughts and yes, most resellers are focused on exactly what you said, electronics, clothes and shoes. I'll put junk in my trunk anytime....if it has "good to great value."

@@AvanteAvenue It seems that most of the You Tubers I watch are complaining about inappropriate comments ( rude more like). The decline in social manners is at an epidemic level and these people are uncaring about the hurt they cause. All we can do is grow a tougher skin and pray for better times. My definition of trash Is an item that will not make a decent profit if resold. I enjoy your channel even though I am not a reseller.

Hi guys! Love the video! Yes, some of the stuff we see on the shelves and at tag sales, etc. can be junk, but you have to look, research, and know your stuff (which you do, haha). Sometimes, we also just have to trust our gut and take that chance. I find if something is unique and speaks to me, I will take a gamble on it. Here's a situation for you - recently, I sold a Irish coffee mug, signed on bottom. I found via research, that it is collectible and can bring decent money ($40 or more). OK, so I only paid pennies for it and I was thrilled to know I could get a good return on it. Listed it for about $39 dollars and it sold right away. It made it to the buyer and after a day or two, he does a refund request as he states the coffee mug had crazing after he washed it. Hmm, I had this mug soaking for two days with a couple other dishes as they were dusty when I purchased them. So he shows pictures of the mug and honestly, it looked like a completely different coffee mug than the one in my pictures. His pics showed lots of cracking on front of mug, the handle, the bottom, etc. The coffee mug I sent him and also my pics did not have any of the issues when it left my address. Ugh! So, I started a Help claim on Ebay, only to make them aware of what I might have been dealing with . So, I sent a few messages letting him know that I felt the pics were not of the mug I sent him. It was in the 2nd message that he mentioned washing it and having the crazing. I have never dealt with anything like this before. I have 100% feedback and have worked hard to earn that. So, I bit my tongue and sent a return address label to start the refund process. He was always polite, no problem there (as was I). Got the mug yesterday and it must be the same mug as it has all the same stuff on the bottom, etc., but it does have all that crazing??? My husband and I are very perplexed by all this. Now just wanting the matter to go away, I sent the full refund of his cost of item and shipping and called it a day! Guess we have to look at it as a "bad meal somewhere"...haha! Have you ever had this happen? It was a pottery style mug.
@AvanteAvenue3 ай бұрын
Yes, crazing can happen. We add a label to the outside of our boxes for glass and ceramics that reads, "Allow to come to room temperature BEFORE opening." It could be that they took the box in from extreme heat into air conditioning and opened it right away. Add to that, if they washed it in hot water right away, cracking and crazing can happen. Some older ceramics will show crazing just from washing but it disappears when dry. Hope that helps and sorry to hear about your return.

Great video about junk lol. Noticed your math for the miniature plates was a little off 😉. Do you not include the selling fees in your profit?
@AvanteAvenue3 ай бұрын
Yes, that one was incorrect. I was using a template and didn’t get it completely updated for that particular listing. The ebay selling fees are on the left side as directly deducted by Ebay. On the right side, I deducted our cost of shipping because we print our label through pirate ship and I deducted the cost of goods. Thanks, Marie!

Great video. Lots of interesting examples and your shipping tips are helpful. I have started with clothes and want to branch out. I haven't listed any hard goods yet but I am finding them around, sometimes FREE on the roadside! Yes, I am now that car that pulls over when I see a box out in front of a house. I have found some really nice things this way. Some people just want their "junk" gone! Your examples are giving me confidence. I "know antiques" so that is not the problem. Was more concerned about keeping shipping safe and costs reasonable. I found some of that film in a drawer and just haven't listed it yet. I also like your efficiency of starting the listing while out shopping! I am taking too long to list. Always room for improvement. Thanks for your tips!

Loved this video! I do have a question, the Goodwill you were showing us "junk" and the prices of $2.99 and $3.99, if those prices were $.25 or $.50 would you still consider them junk and not pick them up? I am not retired, far from it, and I started reselling because I love the idea of getting things for practically nothing and selling the items for a profit. I guess it's the thrill of the hunt. It is a hobby for me. I am always amazed by what sells! Love your channel!

Thank you, Melissa and here’s my answer to the items I showed from Goodwill. No, I would not have bought those items at any price. Nothing about them would have convinced me to buy them even if they were free. LOL. Yes, reselling is a lot of fun and and can be profitable too! Thank you!

So, you have to report and send in the "sales tax" to the government?? How do you keep track of that?? Does EBAY do that for you?? Is EBAY the only site you use? WHY am I seeing so many that are disgruntled with EBAY?
@AvanteAvenue3 ай бұрын
All of the screenshots to the left of my sales are from Ebay. It shows Ebay collecting the sales tax and then deducting it from my payout. They also deduct the selling fees. Not sure why you think that the sellers on Ebay had anything to do with the sales tax. We also sell on Poshmark. They also deduct the sales tax and fees before payout. So no, we have nothing to do with the sales tax. They’re always people unhappy with Ebay just as there are many people that are happy with it. Hope that helps and thank you.
