The old Mughal officials cried for mercy and Raja Jai singh of Jaipur and Nizam-Ul-Mulk of Hyderabad did send threats but none of them took any action. Rafi-Ud-Darjat was chosen from the princes and Ajit Singh and the Nawab took his hand and placed him on the peacock throne.

I am a 16-year-old and I can proudly say that my knowledge has surpassed that of the History Text Books in our schools. Every fellow Sikh is requested to kindly start listening to Classical (Paramparik) Gurbani Sangeet, the way Shabads were sung by Gurus themselves and the way Shabads were sung in various Gurudwaras before "light" music took over. (Fun fact - if you like listening to modern day ragis, then you are most probably listening to "light" Gurbani - Gurbani sung in the incorrent raga, in the way filmy songs or ghazals or semi-classical pieces are sung. Come on people! Gurbani is not meant to sound like a filmy song or a ghazal.) Classical Gurbani Sangeet means singing the Shabads in the prescribed Ragas and most importantly singing the Shabad with utmost love and devotion, without rushing through the composition. It will take you a while to appreciate the beauty and depth of Classical Kirtan because nowadays everyone listens to "light" music. But I can promise you : if you listen with patience you will definitely enjoy the depth and the beauty of Classical Kirtan. Start listening to Puratan Ragis. Listen to Bhai Avtar Singh Ji's jatha who are a part of an unbroken Gurbani Parampara Tradition (link to the channel - kzbin.info/door/LCGDOFTVm2-bJKFU6MLJzQ ) You all are encouraged to research on your own about Bhai Avtar Singh Ji, the Puratan Gurbani Parampara, and the parampara's latest exponent - Bhai Baldeep Singh(a link to one of his videos with his Sangeet Guru Bhai Avtar Singh Ji- kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6m2mWevaLqtfqM ). I won't mention all the details here. Vivek Vashisht 😂 In case you forgot .. Guru Nanak Sahib was born in a Hindu family but he never adopted Hindu religion. On the other hand he rejected Hinduism and its rituals. He refused to wear Janeo (a thread which is sacred to the Hindus). For a Hindu Janeo is obligatory (though most of the Hindus have forsaken it now). Mohammed, the founder of Islam, was born in a Quraishi family. He founded Islam and rejected the religion of the Quraishi Arabians. It will be wrong to call Islam as a branch of old Arabian religious belief. Moses, the founder of Judaism, was born in a family which worshipped idols. Moses rejected idol worship. Christ was born to Jewish parents. No one will define Christianity as an offshoot of Judaism. Similarly, Guru Nanak Sahib, though born to Hindu parents, founded a distinct religion. It is ignorance (or conspiracy) to call Sikhism as an offshoot of Hinduism. Guru Nanak Sahib had proclaimed in unequivocal words that the Sikhs are "neither Hindus nor Muslims" (na ham Hindu na Musalman). Before his death Guru Nanak Sahib appointed Guru Angad Sahib as his successor and merged his light in the light of Guru Angad Sahib. Guru Sahib fulfilled his mission in ten lives (Guru Nanak sahib to Guru Gobind Singh Sahib). Guru Gobind Singh Sahib installed Guru Granth Sahib as Guru-Eternal of the Sikhs on October 6, 1708, thus granting the status of Guru to the Word.
