Chad Daybell’s Children 'Didn't Want to Hear' Mother’s Autopsy Results: Detective

Detective Bruce Mattingly took the stand during the state's rebuttal in the Chad Daybell trial on Thursday afternoon. The state asked Mattingly if he ever revealed the autopsy results to any of the Daybell children. In a recorded phone call, Mattingly called Emma Murray, the daughter of Tammy Daybell, to tell her the autopsy results, but she said she didn’t want to hear them.

Stephanie, thank you for your comment. I think it’s difficult for most people to understand or empathize with, but the depths of one’s psychological connection to the parent goes back to an infantile stage in the psyche, before reason and rationality existed. We are tethered to our parental figures through deep attachments we cannot understand, even when they are unhealthy for us. I hurt for the Daybell kids, even as I see that they are making terrible mistakes they will come to regret. I pray their love for their mother eventually wins and that they are willing to see the truth about their father, as painful as that will surely be.

What does that say his testimony?
