AHA! This is what I was looking for. I was confusing enthalpies of formations with average bond enthalpies. Thank you very much! Also looking forward to checking out all your organic chemistry vids on your website. In the orgo class I'm taking, we're mostly left to teach ourselves, so these will be immensely helpful :-)

Amazing lesson. Thank you. Do you have videos for Introductory Biology and/or Biochemistry anywhere, please? Do you plan on making them?
@ChadsPrep Жыл бұрын
I don't currently have one on youtube but I have a free biochemistry playlist here: www.chadsprep.com/chads-elementary-biochemistry-videos/

thank you for clarifying when to use bonds broken - bonds formed vs products - reactants! Hoping just the table given of Delta hf or Bond enthalpy value will be clear!
@ChadsPrep3 жыл бұрын
It will be clear. The difficulty comes when students don't realize that they should be looking for which of the two are actually given...big source of confusion but I think you got it!

Hi in 2H2+O2---->2H2O Is the delta bond enthalpy different than the delta heat of formation?
@luke_MacLaughlin Жыл бұрын
Can confirm that students do sometimes forget they have learned 3 distinct ways to calculate Delta H 🤣

Yes Indeed!!!

Since H bonds are weaker than covalent bonds Shouldnt the enthslpy between O-H be noticeably different from O=O?

Sir is enthalpy of formation always exothermic because it is the enthalpy of formation reaction
@ChadsPrep10 ай бұрын
Most enthalpy of formation will be negative (exothermic) with a few exceptions, for example NO
