Hi Chad I like the idea of the challenges it takes something like that to make us look more carefully and see beauty in things around us. Great work. Another jeweller in a similar way used inspiration from car alloy wheels to make 5 prong round stone mounts for ear ring studs. 6 is to much a Rex mount is heavy and 4 looks odd on a round stone so a 5 spoke alloy wheel was a perfect compromise. Just look, insect wings tree bark. leaves - Beaty is all around in nature. Keep up the good work my friend 3800 wow!

Thanks Keith. It’s been fun to do things like this. You are right in that there is beauty everywhere if you look:)

Hi Chad! Super ambitious day, 3 cool projects, wow! I was wondering, could you just twist (turn) the center wire and not even touch the rings for those groovy earrings? You know how you twist an earring post? Like that. Love the door knob, my very old house has those glass door knobs on all the doors! 🌺🌺🌺

That is kind of what I did, but making sure the rings are parallel with each other required some corrections as I did that. The earrings were the most challenging of the three which surprised me. It was difficult to heat that central wire without overheating the rings. What year was your house built? Ours is a 1938:). Thanks for the nice comment!

@chadssilversmithing mine was built in 1911. I was told it was all updated and "modernized" in the 50's!! 🤣🤣🤣

Chad, I’ve been watching for a few weeks while learning (or attempting to learn) silversmithing. I am a welder so have access to a shop setting to forge cast and work but am wondering what specialty tools you would start with on a budget. What is the best thing to make for a beginner
@chadssilversmithing Жыл бұрын
It kind of depends on what specialization you focus on. I have plans to make a basic tool setup video sometime soonish. In a nutshell: soldering surface, pliers to shape with, tweezers, soldering pick, torch, files, wire cutters, shears, rotary tool, polishing setup, and there are some specialty items I will also talk about in the video when I get around to making it. A good place to start might be some simple silver bands. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fovHi2eni8l4gq8

You taught me a new word! Thanks:). I just thought they were called door plates:)
