as an engineering apprentice part of my training was to learn how to make machine tools quieter by building a box around them and using your style of material to create anechoic chambers, you've done something similar, your boards reflect the sound backwards and forwards but by introducing the triangulations with the foam you've disrupted the sound reflection and it did make a difference, If you ran foam around the outside with the triangulations facing in you would most likely find the noise would vanish and you'd think the trains had stopped 😀
@rzholland2 жыл бұрын
I am not an engineer at all, But I was thinking the same about the outside. Also some form of sound absorption between the top of the M8 threaded rods and the top base board
@mikeking25392 жыл бұрын
If or when a train derails, Charlie would have to remove the foam stuff from around the helix. I'm sure he would enjoy doing that! 🙂

Another great video Charlie and some really useful tips as always. The sound absorbent material really does make a difference and makes me smile - for the simple reason that when we go out with our friends for a saturday night curry we like to chat. There is nothing worse than going to a restaurant and hearing loud music, then hearing happy guests being even louder over the loud music. Why is this ? Simple. Bare walls bare floor and nothing to absorb any of that noise. It is amazing the difference a carpet and maybe some wall drapes and curtains make in a restaurant. The TMD is shaping up really well Covid - had it twice and it was different both times. In August it was a runny nose whereas 2020 it was a coughy, short of breath experience. Just had booster and flu jab, one in each arm, and hopefully they get me through the winter. The virus is certainly not the scarey worry it was in 2020 though. Take car and keep on with the videos. Thanks

The reason for the apparent "more bass" in the sound after the insulation is added is because high frequencies are easier to stop with small wedges, to remove bass frequencies you'd need much bigger wedges (have you seen an anechoic chamber!?). I am fixing these too my layout at the moment and are so easy too program. These nothing to it. As for the loops.i have two loops on my layout.
