Plus, it is incredibly short sighted to just give him another shot after that long lay off after a very one sided loss.They should be hyping up the other fighters to make them draws. Even the most casual of fans should be excited for a Tony v. Khabib (or Dustin) fight. They should be laying the ground work now, Tony is an incredibly exciting fighter and has an insane record, so pitting him against someone like Khabib or the guy that finally beat Khabib if Dustin wins, is an easy sell. Just do some promos and push them as much as they did Conor. Even if Conor does fight again, I'd be surprised if he does another 5, I think we'll see him fight another 3 times at most. So think long term and build up your other fighters and get more stars out there to bring in PPV buys. I think they know if Conor had to work his way back up that he may not be able to win 2 or 3 more against those top 5 or 10 guys at 155. So will probably wait until Tony gets a shot later this year and then give Conor a shot in the spring. Maybe find a good size/skill matchup for Conor in the meantime if one presents itself.

I love you Chael but let me tell you why I disagree... Firstly, McGregor has never ever defended a belt... not even once... You can't tell me that's not something we can hold against his legacy because the mindset of defending a belt is different than going in to a fight knowing that essentially you have nothing to lose... When you rewatch it you could make an argument though that the judges never scored a takedown for khabib when he did land 1 takedown in that round and that conor kept cheating by grabbing shorts and gloves a lot to defend. Chael, I'm sure you of all people should know fighters grow in this sport case-in-hand Max Holloway. Conor fought a different, less experienced Dustin Poirier in 2014, and definitely a VERY different and inexperienced Max Holloway in 2013. Let me remind you we are in 2019 right now Chael. Those 2 guys have improved tremendously over the past few years while Mr. Mcgregor has been on the decline ever since the Floyd fight. You shouldn't be saying "Just how good is Conor", in fact the very opposite "Just how bad has Conor become?" He looked slow, rusty and a shadow of his former self in the Khabib fight. Bisping is right, Mcgregor's stock has and is still on the decline after he started making excuses after excuses as to why he lost the fight, Let's see his leg was a ballon, he focused too much on the ground game, his training camp was too intense and the list goes on. Using fight stats from 5-6 years ago is a very weak argument especially in the fight game where growth is a significant factor.

Man, I don't even like Conor McGregor, but give it a rest with this stuff. Dustin Poirier was 16-3 (8-2 UFC) going into their fight. He had a more respectable record than Conor at the time. He was already a top 10 contender knocking on the door of a title shot, and was well-thought of enough that every hater on Earth was pegging him as the guy who would teach Conor what a 'real UFC fighter' was. The fact that he got taken out in 2 minutes doesn't change that (I mean, his sole blemish at 155 as of right now is an even faster KO to a guy with a much worse record, but nobody is talking about his inexperience for THAT fight). He was not some doe-eyed neophyte getting his first taste of the UFC. Max...maybe they didn't have high expectations for him (although he was already experienced at fighting vets), but acting like Dustin wasn't on his game is pure revisionist history. Obviously, Dustin and Max (and Conor) are different fighters NOW, and there's no guarantee we'd have the same results if we had rematches, but that's true of literally every fighter to have ever fought, and every fight to have taken place. Conor is definitely in a worse place now, too big to not main event a PPV, and all PPV main events have to be for a title, so he CAN'T 'work his way back up' and fix his mindset/holes in his game against opponents a tier below the champ even if he wanted to. I do agree his best days are behind him. But this doesn't affect how good he WAS.

Conor made more money in 3 years than the whole light weight division will in their whole careers combined, this has clearly fucked up his hunger. I loved Conor prior to the bus incident and the attack on the old fellow was disgraceful. I don't know if he can come back from this, and I don't think he will win his return fight against anyone let alone Khabib, Khabib will eat him alive again. I just hope Conor can sort out his head because if he gets his mind sorted and starts winning again it will be interesting.

Conor since has competed in two bouts. He boxed floyed mayweather and fought khabib. Both are consensus p4p greats and both defeated conor. If that paints an individual who is a ‘looser’- are you a 6 year old?- then Im unsure of what qualifies a fighter as a winner. To me however it didn’t look as if khabib and his team were preparing for a ‘looser’ and still don’t speak about conor as such. But im sure ‘Riz K’ knows his shit.

Ya, and that "lost" round was Khabib taking his foot off the gas and toying around with Conor, and Conor cheating multiple times, and it was still close. Most of people didn't know they gave Conor that round until after the fight when the cards came out, so nothing to brag about. Conor did nothing that fight and got man handled while people saw him blatantly cheat just to hang as long as he did. He needs to do other fights and if he doesn't want to do a 5 round main or co-main, then thats on him if he wants his career to end on him losing to Khabib like he did.

To be fair Tony lost to Michael Johnson and Khabib smashed Johnson, that being said if Dustin doesn't beat Khabib I think Tony has the strongest chance. My point is a loss doesn't mean it can't be redeemed and we all know Conor has redeemed his loss before. With all that said if Conor wants that fight after Khabib Dustin he will get it.
