The yarn is gorgeous, and I can hardly wait to see your socks. Thanks for talking through the spinning from the fold and the chain ply process as you are doing them. I did my first spinning from the fold, thanks to getting to watch you do it on your videos. harpingJanet

Thanks for taking us through your process. It was especially fun for me as I am chain plying a hand dyed (not by me) merino, silk, cashmere blend into a pink, maroon, purple, blue gradient. It's such a meditative and creative process to use our brains and our hands to orchestrate the look we want. And it brings so much joy from picking out the fiber to testing and spinning and then knitting it up! Then wearing the product of all that loving focus or gifting it to someone special! Thank you for your great videos.

The much awaited plyed yarn! 😊 It turned our gorgeous and I am now dreaming of a hackle for my birthday….. 🎂 Thank you for this! P.S. We all have our own way that spinning works for us. No one should be telling you that you are doing it wrong….🤗

@@jkfiberarts are you going to post the finished sock? I’m going to use spin from the fold and chain ply some of the blended merino top I have in my stash. I haven’t been enthused to spin it since there’s a good chance it’ll muddle too much. I think this method will be right for it!
@jkfiberarts Жыл бұрын
@@lisaml7411 yes. I will post the finished socks! I am terrible at finishing knitting projects in a timely manner. I will start it as soo as I finish one of the sock projects I am currently working on! I will show that sock too, as I knit it from my handyed, handspun top in a video this last spring.

@@jkfiberarts I’m not the greatest at finishing my projects in a timely matter, either… I seem to have this issue with all the pretty things whether another knitted project or fiber to spin. Squirrel…. 😂😂😂

@@lisaml7411 lol! I have been accused of having fiber ADD! Except with spinning. I almost always finish my projects, and fast!

Absolutely gorgeous spin. I love watching your channel, I'm so glad I discovered it. I have learned a lot of technical info from you. Do you have a shop where you sell any of the measuring tools you use? If not do you have a link to purchase them? Thanks!

That’s funny- my dog loves to put her face in my spinning too- what’s that all about? I am spinning from the fold for 3 ply socks also, a yellow, silver and white hackled blend also. I will chain ply too. If you read an earlier issue of Ply magazine they did a study to see which plying method produced a stronger, longer lasting sock and they came to the conclusion that the two methods produced similar results. Although I would think you would want a worsted spin over a woolen for strength sake
@jkfiberarts Жыл бұрын
Absolutely worsted prep for socks. There is no debate about that. Combing/hackle blends (if you use worsted fiber prep in your blend) will give you a worsted prep for socks. I have some Shropshire I need to finish scouring, but it doesn’t felt so I may comb it. It will be spectacular for socks!
