Isn't it possible for one to draw a line from the radius to a given point on the circle to find the gradient by taking the negative reciprocal of the slope then using point slope form?

im sorry, can someone explain to me..why cant i just make the sqrt(25-x^2) into 5-x?..it is the same thing? right?

Hi, you can just think of sqrt((a+b)^2). (a+b)^2 if you expand is a^2+2ab+b^2 which is not the same as a^2+b^2 (see binomial theorem). This is why we can't just take the square root of each variable inside of the sqrt function individually.
