Oddly enough, most MCR songs are not that easy to learn. They rarely use regular old power chords and usually use octaves, or even stretched power chords.
@chitoryu122 жыл бұрын
They do use the exact same chords for much of the Black Parade album, but they also switch around VERY fast sometimes and do things that really take effort to figure out where your fingers should go to keep up with Ray and Frank.
@layne052 жыл бұрын
@@chitoryu12 Yeah, and the coolest thing is that Frank and Ray have COMPLETELY different parts in every song which gives their music this very full feeling.

I remember being in college when MCR announced they’d split up as a group and being devastated. MCR was a staple for me growing up, then they dropped Fake Your Death and I remember thinking: “Well, that’s the last time I’m ever gonna hear a new song for the first time ever by them, this sucks”. THEN THEY DROP THIS! I’d never opened a link so fast when my friend sent it to me SEE MA, IT WASNT A PHASE 😂 Production wise, it reminds me of their early work on “I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love”. I’m all for it and excited to see them making new music, hopefully we get an album soon!

Never saw ur channel before and I almost passed it by but decided to give it a lookyloo. I am so happy I did. THIS is what I've been wishing for. I've wanted to hear this song with JUST the music because it's so haunting and powerful to me. The guitar crescendo is everything and your playing along brought that out for me. So hey, Thank You! I'll be subbing now, and checking out more of your content. And I'll be re-listening (not a word, I know) to this one over and over to get my fill of this beautiful piece of music.

I was in the same boat thinking this song was gonna be pop-punk stuff, and I'm pleasantly surprised it isn't. It feels more "mature" so to speak, it sounds like a natural evolution of their music given the near decade between the last album and this. I could be entirely wrong on this though, I haven't listened to mcr in a long time.
@zackakai51732 жыл бұрын
As someone who was a huge MCR fan in middle and high school, got huge into metal for the better part of a decade, then went back to MCR and other stuff from that era in the last few years... you're not wrong. I've been learning a lot of their stuff on guitar lately, and I've been surprised by how complex a lot of it actually is. It's very much *not* the basic pop punk nothing-but-power-chords kind of music I think I imagined it was. Dudes were always crazy talented songwriters and musicians even back in their early years.

@@rnttnzr774 lol I’ve met prog guitarists who’ve struggled with MCR songs due to underestimating them, no they’re not Mozart compositions but they’re way more technical and interesting than the other mainstream 2000s bands. I hear a lot of outside influences in the make up of this song. I hear some Soundgarden “Blow up the outside world” with the slow beginning and then it goes into a crazy Coheed and Cambria “Welcome Home” and AFI “Miseria Cantare” breakdown. All with the awesomeness that MCR brings to every song they make. When Gerard sings “Fifteen years ago” I get chills…. Awesome song

Production was definitely intentional. They by far have the assets and knowledge for it to be intentional. I do agree though not sure how I feel about the vocals being so lost in instruments.

@@serpentine6171 wasn’t it said that gerard was louder than the instruments so now they changed that for this song?
@vel75062 жыл бұрын
The production was intention as the band has always tried to implement the story or theme they want into the music's sound, in this case, the song is about decay, so the "production" which Gerard and Ray helped with, was most likely to be done for the "decayed" sound, the filters used on Gerard's vocals are even present in the live versions of this if that adds anything to it.
