Tom, I have drove for ten years and never chained up until last night because I used to only run East and the Midwest. Your video is a LIFESAVER of a demonstration. I fought it for almost hours last night at Vail Pass in Colorado, I watched someone elses video that looked good and it wasnt. I tried it your way and had it on in 5 minutes tops with some slack to connect. All I can say is that I wish that I would have seen your video yesterday! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Again! -Driver

Watched your five short tutorials,drove 20 years over the road, chained countless times steering, drive, and trlr axles,retired, next 18 years in a fire department, I believe these would be a great learning tool for our younger personal, ten years ago no one knew what a cam chain was never mind and install great job

I been driving over 41 years I ran doubles on snow and ice I always carried blocks with me to drive on especially for 3 railers it makes it so much easier even if you spin out throw a block let it roll back you can get the chains tighter it makes chaining faster

MrStunted1,,, Thank You!! These 2 part videos are the most informative I've seen yet,, despite criticism. Very slow description. "Thumbs up". I don't give a damn how fast some "Texas Tex" wearing his 90 gallon cowboy hat can chain his tires up in other videos I've seen. They rush through like they're tryin to prove a point. Great video!!

Good bid. I chain up almost daily in winter. Running the west coast and the Rockies it's a necessary evil. Make sure you have good quality American made chains. Get a chain cam wrench. They have them at Flying J in the Spokane area. They make tightening the chains very easy and help get 'em tight. The tighter they are, the longer they last.

first off, if you just hang the chain on the tire,drivers generally try to hang them 50 /50 frt to rear of tire,like he did.works fine if your putting on one chain,that rarely happens. if your driving forward make sure the hooks are at the rear or between the axles,this way you have both chains each at the same height next hang the chain so hooks just touch the ground.now for the life saver.the worse part of chains is not knowing how far to roll ahead. having a marker is OK but unless you know exactly how far to roll,you guess and its wrong,then you hear the sound of falling chains,you start over again. bin there,done that with two sets of triples..before winter sets in,throw a roll of tree marking ribbon.pink or green is best and tie it to a link close to the hook, not at the hook, go 3 to 4 links away, its real easy to see,sticks out and you never go too far. when you roll ahead you can see the ribbon and stop before you go too far. same as when you stop to pull them off,look for the ribbon, stop with it at the top. real easy. here's another little tip for chains,next time you truck comes out of a shop for work.techs always leave the plastic seat cover, keep it,disposable ground sheet if you need to get on the ground. for the record, I drive log truck in British Columbia,you can guess how much chaining up I do.

where abouts in B.C. do you drive? I worked in the smithers hazelton area and some in mcbride and a year in dawson creek hauling short logs. the worst was a short haul to the chipper mill in hazelton 4-5 runs a day throwing chains each time. two sets of triplets ( 4 chains) on the tractor and on occasion a drag on the trailer. 7 axel. Tandem jeep and a pole trailer. I love the video's that say 1/2 an hour to throw a set of chains. how long would you last in the industry taking that long?
@greg6578 жыл бұрын
Russell Oriely I'm in south central british columbia.tri drv quad. if you spent 1/2 hour every time,who would last. keep in mind log trucks are way easier to chain. no fenders ,or trailer 5 inches over the drives and generally you don't care bout how dirty you get. spent more years on the highway than bush and I hated chaining up. now I don't care, they're more or less a nuisance, trailer ,piece ofcake. and yes short hauls are a painful. I've noticed that most chain up vids are US. they always have just snow chains. guess that's all you need on pavement for 5 axle.

Greg Or Jen how long would anyone last is what I meant. two sets of triples usually done in under ten minutes. or the guy behind you scoops you. the owner of the truck gets a little upset. the only thing I know for sure is I'm glad I don't have to do it anymore.

I was checking it out because on Ice Road Trucks they just show them putting it on without having to move the rig and I was thinking it must be moving to complete the chain rigs. 💯👍🏼😊

Which tires do you put the chains on when you are gonna lock the differential in? I have to climb very steep muddy hills pulling a sand can out in the mountains of WV, PA, and OH.
