Your chain maxes out at 20, at which point your odds are maxed at 1 in 96, so slightly more common than a 1% pokemon appearing in an area. Your chain doesn't break when you find a shiny. Just a Pokémon that is 1/96 won't pop up again and again. Not hating, but this is useful information that has popped up in recent times

If you put a Pokemon with the ability suction cups at the front of your party, it will result make sure you always reel in a Pokemon which is why he had an Inkay feinted (it wouldn't be able to run away so many times if it weren't feinted)

Chain fishing isn't as quick and easy as it sounds. Yeah there's the sticky hold trick and the rocks trick to ensure you get a bite. But the main issue I have is, I can rarely even get to even 15 casts before it decides I didn't reel it in fast enough breaking my chain

But I'm not blaming the game at all I'm just merely saying it's not as fast and easy, and no, it's not a game problem. A lot of the times my thumb slipped and reeled it too soon but. It sometimes takes a few seconds to get a bite and sometimes a fraction of a second, sometimes the line jerks a couple times before it says you didn't reel it in fast enough and sometimes it says that the instant the ❗ pops over your head. Ya gotta have quick reflexes it's still the easiest and fastest method just not as fast and easy as it sounds on paper

This method works! I decided to try before going to work to kill some time and I sat there for like 13-20mins just fishing with the inkay all the stuff you need. Then out of no where a shiny skrelp pops out! I used false swipe and captured it with an ultra ball. This would make it my 4th shiny in my lifetime. =)

I've had so much success with chaining. I've caught 15 shiny remoraid (4 in one sitting). my longest chain was 236 without a shiny. I've caught almost every fishable pokemon in Y except chinchou, basculin and dratini but since dratini's odds are like 5% I don't think i'll try for it anytime soon

Started out with a chain of 41 on Route 21, without a single shiny. Then read about doing the Fishermans challenge (Fishermans Shack, Route 16) first before encountering shinies, so I did that just in case (easily chained 8 to break his record) obtained the Dive Balls from him, went back to Route 21 to chain for Shiny Dratini. Got a chain of 12 and got a Shiny Poliwhirl instead but still caught it :) Don't know if clearing the Fisherman "Genius" challenge was required or if it was just by chance but still. Now to continue for that Shiny Dratini :D Thanks for the guide!

So when your chain fishing what you are actually doing is basically tapping into your actual game software for the shiny code and keep pushing it up closer and closer even if chain breaks its still moved upward and game still tags it. So when you pull the shiny code upward in the data of the game and then you breed using the Mesuda Method its almost impossible not to get a shiny considering its non stop encountering and it works every time.

I'm still looking out for a shiny skrelp or horsea in my Y version, but i did catch a corphish, a wailmer and a carvanha in my alpha version. Good video and new subscriber here

I actually accidentally found a shiny without meaning to while doing something similar to this method. I was fishing for Horsea while I had a Grimer in the front of my party and after a little while, I found and caught a shiny Relicanth!
