iDenji doesn't love money, AT ALL. The whole reason he's working so hard to make money is to pay off a debt that isn't even his or else he'd get murdered by the Yakuza. The debt is his dads but his dad hung himself before finishing off paying. His mom is dead because if a heart disease that made her cough up blood which is why he coughed up blood. He's had to pay off the debt since he was younger and Denji is only 15 in this anime, not even an adult. He just wants a normal life but as long as he has the debt theyd never let him go. They said all this in the first episode...

@@LiveNColorTv Also, not sure if you're aware, (considering it sounds like you felt he got a lot from the organs he sold) but the yen is very roughly 0.01 USD (less, right now), so any number you see, you need to knock off the 2 last digits. So for example, after paying rent, what's left of his cut of the demon payout is 1,800 yen. At first it sounds like a decent pay for a month, but it's really less than 18$. He "swallowed" that cigarette for less than 1$. Man's broke AF. (Actually, I'm not sure if the artist has a different valuation of the yen in his universe, but I'd assume not.)

He literally had to pay 700k yhe next day, the only thing that made him survive was making a deal with a devil and being their personal devil hunter. Not only that but those body parts he sold were probably forced because he couldnt muster up money to pay them back. Would you rather he die?
