Why aren't modern comics as successful? You'll get a lot of different answers as to why. His being one of them. There is some veracity to his claim though insofar as shit writers, illustrators, and creative directors are concerned. But some people call any roadblock to test your skill in your way is a form of gatekeeping the industry.

I think that Houseki no Kuni deals with a lot of the same themes as Chainsaw Man. You should definitely give it a read. It’s a lot less well known but the anime is made by Studio Orange (Beastars’ Studio). The manga is far more interesting as it’s completed more though it’s still unfinished. I’d say it’s main theme would be “What it means to be human” It’s a beautiful read and is really similar to this manga, please give it a read :)

I'm on chapter 3 and the line, "a tentacle devil attacked his balls," has has me cackling for 5 minutes. Edit: I finished part 1 yesterday. I have never experienced such raw, pure, chaotic art in my life. I'm totally reading that part again. I had a blast the entire time. My only regret is I'll never be able to experience I for the first time again.

I think what really got me hooked on the series was how it felt grounded in reality. Even though there is this fantastical element with devils it sees them as a normal thing as they are used to it by now. With all the modern elements and issues I could easily digest this world existing and sympathize with a lot of the issues characters face, in some way or another.

I remember reading CSM, and being enraptured with the plot and art. It stayed with me for a good few days and I felt empty when it was over, it had wrung me dry of everything I was ever worth. So yes, read it, it’s the ride of a lifetime, but do keep in mind that it does have its problems, it is not perfect, nothing really is. That being said those problems will only hit you after you fully digested the story because you’re gonna be on a fucking trip to the moon and back while reading it. Editing for spelling errors

Given that chapter 97 was not the end of Chainsaw Man, I can only think of one way for it to definitively end. But I hope I’m wrong, because while it ties everything up in a neat little bow, it also feels a bit underwhelming and generic. Basically, I can only see it ending in any sort of definitive way with the defeat and consumption of the Devil devil. People fear devils, meaning there must be one somewhere, and it must be incredibly powerful. And if Chainsaw Man were to consume the Devil devil, it would erase the very concept of devils from existence. My guess would be that some devil was responsible for Denji’s dad being in debt. Therefore, erasing devils from reality would rewrite history to give Denji the normal childhood he never got. And of course this version of Denji would have a cute little dog that’ll be implied to be some sort of reincarnation of Pochita. Thankfully, I think Fujimoto will be able to come up with something better. The man is far too insane to go for such an underwhelming ending.

There are no happy endings in Fujimoto's story. Most likely a bitter-sweet or bitter ending, or maybe completely nihilistic ending who knows The way I think Chainsaw man is gonna end is that Denji will somehow become human again while Pochita being dead, his heart disease makes it so that Denji won't live long. Denji comes back at life where he started. Poor, no friends, no food nothing, but this time he has a strong philosophical out look towards life which gives him a smile, telling us that he is grateful for all kinds of tastes he got to experience (Makima lollipop reference) He then proceeds to head towards his old shack, goes to sleep in that old mattress after closing the door only for it to never be opened by him again. Last panel being the door. I like my door concept, all his life Pochita(and the readers) told him not to open the door and this time he closes it only for the readers to hope that he opens it again( just incase you missed it, he won't be opening the door as he turned back into human and will be dead from his mother's inherited heart disease mentioned in chapter 1)
