Thank you for your comparison video. When I went to my local bookstore, most of the individual mangas of Chainsaw Man were printed in Italy. I did see one copy that was printed in the USA and I compared them. There seemed to be a slight difference but not enough to run around town to find them. Target has the box set for $59 and made it tough for me to just hunt down a full set of the US print.

I think the box set is worth it 100% if you can grab it for 70 or less so 59 is a great deal and would be worth it for sure!

you said that the volumes are thinner, but are the volumes in the box set the same height as the individual volumes? I don’t want to buy the box set if the volumes 12 onwards don’t match in height

So they are thinner a smidge but everything else is exact same size. So the height is the same as all other manga etc. They will match!

I want to get it! I was thinking of getting it before RightStuf closed. $79-15% deal but decided against it because the Japanese ones are dust covers. Rah English versions have better spines though, so colorful. Japanese covers but English spines are the best for any series!

It does look like the italian print got alot better sins my hero academia. I have some us and some italian print my hero manga and the size difference is huge it looks way better with the chainsawman books :D

Yeah I like that this ones is a closed box set with a handle. I do like the German spines but I think I prefer these ones since they are not just straight cut pics in the mid. Both are good thought!

just on the inside cover where all the deets are they say where its printed. The quality is different but I could put 2 in front of you and you would be hard pressed to find the difference. I sold my singles and im keeping the box set if that helps ya pick.

I find it ironic people prefer US prints, because: 1. US prints have a higher chance of being misprinted. 2. US prints yellow faster than any other print. 3. US prints have a higher chance of being damaged. 4. US prints are inconsistent with print sizes (some volumes are taller/shorter by some centimeters than the other)

@@qifrey2472 Well the misprint, damage, and inconsistencies are all kind of the same thing. Its still not that bad as we think. Plus replacement and returns are so ez its crazy. I have seen plenty of Italian prints with spines slipping and different heights also. Plus if they are being shipped and displayed the same places they will be damaged just the same. When it comes to yellowing its about the environment so so knows. I have prints 10-30 years old and white as can be. EVERY manga will yellow no matter what someday. I think the main thing is that the switch is happening when the majority are printed a certain way. If all we had in the US were Italian prints for 30 years THEN the US started making theirs we would not be happy because of the size difference so its vice versa. ( We would like the less bleed thru though but it seems they are getting better)

I have vol's 12 and 13 and have been hpldomg off on singles for the box set. Does anyone think it would be noticeable between the 1-11 and 12+ volumes? I just want it to look cohesive while its all on my shelf. Id really use the box for storage and moving

I just hate that it's becoming a trend for Box Sets to be so small...same with Toilet-bound Hanako-Kun's Box Set having volumes 1-10 when there's 20 volumes atm and depending how much longer these series go on for...they could've easily waited to do the usual 20+ per box set. Like if Naruto, Bleach....and fuck, One Piece, only did Box Sets of 10 volumes per box, that's just ridiculously annoying to me. The thinner volumes and page quality still irk me, I don't like how they feel at all and enjoy more heft to my books...even if these are slightly better than before, they're still inferior for myself. As for Chainsaw Man itself, much like Kaiju N0.8, it's something I was interested in....gave it a shot and just had no love for either one. To each their own as always, but I do not get the huge praise for either Manga and will not be buying any volumes to own myself.

I get what your saying and I agree to a point. We are still getting the regular sized box sets (in the 18-16 range) But I dont like the open faced box sets so im ignoring those. The toilt bound one was great since they are doing the stalls for it. Chainsaw is doing the arcs with the first arc was 1-11 so that makes sense. The quality seems much better and it would be hard to tell the difference to a regular or above average reader which is good but I feel ya on that. But on the flip side the extra printing power that got has allowed us to get so many OOS manga reprinted over the last 2 years which is so nice! I think CSM is a 7/10 on its best day so its deece but I dont feel the hype everyone else sees. Same for Kaiju also its about the same range.

well first CSM will be many more volumes than 15 since its already at that and still going. CSM imo is a solid 7/10 max. Just a bunch of hype around it but nothing that special story wise etc. Just like his other works they have stronger starts but then he mumbles them up so much. There a zillion series undero 20 volumes imo much better but its all opinions on what you like.
