CHAINSAW wood carving large dog

In todays video we will be chainsaw wood carving a large dog, a Rottweiler to be exact! This specific Rottweiler is named BB and she is the cutest little thing! I have chainsaw carved several dogs at this point and I have learned so much from each dog carving! Dogs are NOT easy to carve, and customers tend to have higher expectations since you are often attempting to replicate both a specific breed and a specific pet. Always love a good challenge though, and BB was definitely a challenge!

That little corded chainsaw is a beast…but my most recent carving (a larger then life buck) has taught me I really need to invest in a gas saw for the larger projects. Carving a massive deer with that electric saw was something 😂 A carving bar is also a high priority on my list, I think it will be a huge help! I appreciate the kind words and for you watching my video!!

@@TayMarie23 nice! I wouldn't really recommend getting an ms194c, or Ms 151c. Not only are the extremely lightweight, but they also have adjustable carburetors which is better for smaller blocking. Not having a large load put stress on the non adjustment carburetor.

Another very impressive carving Tay...I noticed you mentioned that you wished you had a carving bar..Can I ask what you did about that?.. This is an older video! I have 3 carving bars now! Do you have the cs1500 or 1400? I found that my cs1500 was burning my bars up a bit despite good oiling. I have successfully run an quarter tip on the cs1500 though. Just need to switch your sprocket over to 1/4p using the Mikita electric sprocket and get yourself a C1 mount carving bar. you can actually run 3/8p on quarter tips so you don’t have to change the sprocket if you don’t want too. I have been running my 8” dime tip on my Stihl mse180c and it’s running great, no burning up at all! There is no throttle control on electric saws so there is a lot more chain rotations which means more friction then a gas so, so you just have to be careful! But once you find the right set up electric is amazing for detail work, zero vibration makes for better accuracy! Hope this helps!

That's very kind to reply in such detail Tay...I have a cs1800 chainsaw and can't find enough info into a conversion or infact whether it's possible to do so, until now,. I will try doing what you suggest by changing from a 3/8 pitch to 1/4 in then change my bar...Tay, thankyou so much for your help..You are an incredible carver and an inspiration to your art...Thankyou once again!

I just found your channel a couple days ago, and you’re pretty awesome. Hands down you’re better than a couple other guys I’ve been watching, that have done this for years. So, keep goin’ n gettin’ better girl! But I was wondering, about the lilting/sing song ‘high pitched’ bits you do. Is this natural to you, let’s say when you’re happy n excited? Or is it something you put on for ‘performance’, for your KZbin audience. I only ask because sometimes it’s overdone. I don’t say this to cause drama or hurt your feelings or anything, because by watching nearly a dozen of your vids I think you’re amazing and a genuinely nice person, that anyone would like to be around. I was only thinking of some ‘constructive criticism’. And, loved your Rott puppy. I’m 62 and have had three Rotts. Amazing companions. All three have passed of old age at 12 and my last was almost 14. Her name was Mouse. She was the best of them. I plan to put her image in wood . You gave me many helpful tips. Thank you for doing this video. Be safe.

Oh you are NOT alone friend! I charge a little more for the floppy ears because they are a mind game! I should have gotten the HF finger sander back when I though I might want one, before inflation and tariffs. Now they are $49.99. There is a $36 Wen finger sander but it is only 2 amps. The HF one is 5.3 amps. I also miss the coupons HF used to have. It used to be 20% or 25% off most everything.

@@TayMarie23 So I looked at the Harbor Freight website late this afternoon and they have the finger sander on sale for $27.99, today(Saturday) only. So I drove to HF and I got there 10 minutes after closing time :-( So I went home and ordered one online but it cost me $6.99 more for shipping. So the total with shipping and tax was $37.29. I'm still a little bummed out about getting to the store too late and having to pay 6.99 more. I guess it is still a good price.

I see that the sale price goes through to today, not ends on today. So I went back to the store and got one without the shipping charge, and will cancel or bring back the one I ordered online. So I saved the $7.45 shipping charge+tax after all. Every dollar counts🙂

As a total newbie myself I have been going back and forth about doing an educational carving video or not! I would just hate to suggest something that is not correct or not safe…but at the same time I know all the things newbies struggle with since I’m so new myself! So I might make a tips and suggestions video with some of the little things I have learned over the past 5 months! But as far as tools, saws, carving bars, and chains…I myself am so lost! I have been watching so many videos to try and get comfortable and familiar with all the options lol! Doing a little tutorial video might be fun though ☺️ Thank you so much for watching and for the support!
