None of his contemporaries could touch him back then. 2007 saw the release of two blockbusters, and SRK was the pinnacle of superstardom - Om Shanti Om and Chak De India. That craze was unprecedented... I was in school and everyone wanted to be SRK in the annual functions..miss those times..

​​@Abracadraba Dunki was a big setback. Also, there are many challenges for him in this day and age. Reinvention is the first. Age is the second, and competitors are the third. 2000s was the era when Shahrukh's dominance was absolute amongst his contemporaries. Salman was going through a bad phase, Aamir was big but not close to SRK, Hrithik was giving hits and flops, Ajay was doing parallel cinema, Prabhas/Ranbir/Ranveer did not exist. Only Shahrukh was there and his kingdom was unhinged.

@@AnkitGupta-u1n ​ I agree 100% especially with the reinvention bit. I mean if we are being honest, its not shahrukh but the movies and music now that don't create a craze like the 90s and 2000s. And sadly I believe he has really bad advisors in terms of the kind of movies he should be picking at this point in his career. So no matter the box office its not gonna feel the same. But what he had from DDLJ to Om Shanti Om, no one will beat that. Him, Amitabh, Rajesh Khanna and Dilip Kumar are unparalleled in terms of Stardom. People bring in other names probably coz of recency bias but these four are at the pinnacle

I get you, Kristen. Anytime SRK cries, he break my heart too and I sure it's same for many many hearts. Once someone asked me why do I like SRK as actor, even as a fan I am aware that many other actors have done amazing films with greater concept while main niche of SRK has been romance films, but my answer was simple, "I feel what his character is feeling at the moment on screen."

I think the Bindiya redemption got lost in translation. It’s subtle and to the point just as the response to her spiral. When SRK goes back to her and she asks why do you need me now? He says because you have what no one does, it is implied why he did what he did all this while, why she isn’t the captain and why her team spirit is needed more than seniority ego. It’s about doing what works and where, and playing together as one. She understood that( the team wins because of everyone, and is shown from her behaviour towards the ground maintenance guy, treating him as an extended member), and that is her redemption arc.

One of the best sports movies ever across languages. The elements in there are just crazy - gender parity, glam sports v just sports, regionalism, communalism, racism, sexism, objectivity of the media! And yet it's such a great sports movie at the end of the day! It never feels like it's giving us too much "Gyan". Everything just flows naturally! I can't think of a Hollywood movie that matches up too. I feel like when it's playing with the mind, Hollywood beats Bollywood easily, but when it comes to tugging at the heartstrings, there are some Bollywood movies that are just unmatched.
