CHAKA KHAN is my ALL TIME FAVORITE SINGER! I ABSOLUTELY ADORE HER!!! She has been through a lot over the years and yet...! I was worried about her after the Versus with Stephanie Mills fiasco, but she more than made up for it here. She looks AND SOUNDS like herself! So very happy for her. We all are entitled to good and bad days. But no matter what, I AM A TRUE FAN! I went back stage, during my groupy days and met her. Like now, she was so gracious! Chaka was much older than 22 when she was approached to do this movie because its general release date was in February 1986, and she was 32 at this time. Additionally, 'the publication date for the book was in 1982.' Plus, she first met Prince at Electric Lady Land studios after he played a practical joke on her by pretending to be Sly Stone via phone. He was around 18 at the time and definitely not 30 as she proclaims in this interview. She came to the studio thinking it was really Sly only to meet Prince, whom she was unfamiliar with. It is irksome how people like her (with fame and stardom) think they can say anything, and people will believe it as if many of us don't have the actual receipts on these incidents. Yeah, that was an interview with the comedian, Lunelle. Definitely lost a ton of respect for her and everyone else spreading malicious rumors about him now that he is not available to defend himself. While he was present, everyone was quiet, and now everyone (who claims to have had a personal relationship with him) has a story to tell with many of them being disparaging. Plus, her recollection of all these incidents in this interview is inaccurate, too.

I think Chaka Khan meant that they offered her the Shug Avery role, because Shug's character sings in the color purple, and if I recall, it was the Shug Avery role that she was initially offered. And I see some ppl in the comments saying she had to be older than 22 when they movie came out, but I believe this is when they FIRST offered her the role, sometimes it takes years, even decades for a movie to come out and they be already having the script. Just like Girls Trip, Katt Williams spoke about this in that clip where he and Wanda was going back n forth on the radio show, I forgot what year he said they first sent him the script. It HAD to have been the Shug Avery role. Spielberg also offered the role to Tina Turner and she turned it down. He was considering well known singers for the role of Shug because at first they wanted a "name" for the role. In regards to her being 22 tops, that also cannot be true. The book was released in 1982. By then Chaka was 29. The film was released in 1985, so they had to have shot it in 1984ish.

She met Prince when he was 18-20. He found her number in the files of the studio he was recording in and called her pretending to be Sly. She wasn't happy when she showed up looking to party with Sly. She covered his song 'I Feel For You' in early 80's without his consent but by permission with WB because they were both on the same label. Don't for 1 minute think he was put out by this! She suprised guested in his concerts through the years singing that song. Happy was written all over his face. He adored her. But Chaka worked in Princes Paisley Park studios in the 90's along with Larry Graham. Both recorded his songs on ablums made there. *would LOVE to see these re-released). Prince was in his 40's. This is probably what she was remembering on the spot here.

EXACTLY he was young...she equally said some very disgusting things regarding her finding him attractive. She said she didn't find him sexually attractive plus she heard he had herpes. Saying that a woman was suing him CHAKA KHAN is very mentally damaged by drugs and life itself. At times Clueless about anything. PRINCE never was NEVER sued about a sexually transmitting a disease to a woman. *(Steve Wonder) and *(Usher Raymond) both were in court room situation regarding troubles with women and sexual troubles about transmission of herpes. EVERYONE who comment on her remarks in the interview said she must have mistaken STEVIE WONDERS court room situation regarding the woman who claims he gave her herpes for PRINCE. CHAKA KHAN is very untrustworthy regarding remarks she has made lately within her old age. PRINCE was always very respectful to her. Since then I have never listened to her because she tends to be all over the place when it comes to the truth 🤔
