I first became a fan when I saw her at around 17 years of age at Beauty pageant and it all came down to swim wear competition. She was the only plus size model and plus size was frowned on in 1983. I watched the whole thing thinking how she slayed the hell out of that competition and walked circle around all those slim beauty but there was no way they were going to give that to her. She won and the whole place was ecstatic because she surely deserves it. She put our school over the edge with that winner score and our school won the overall Competition for Rust College Upwards Bound Summer Camp Program for high school kids because of her final winning score. Oh that was 2 Beauty Pageant she won. First at our Local College and then at the State competition. #she's been amazing always

It is wonderful to see her life journey knowing she has always been a great entertainer, and all her recognition is so deserving. Sweet "San" is what we called her back then.
