One of my all time favorite songs. Chaka lays the vocals down smooth as butter. Noone til this day sounds like her. Her voice is fireeeeee 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥the production is sickkkkk. Man nothing like classic soul and R& B. This new age R&B suckssss ! Ugh 😩

My intro to Chaka Khan was "I Feel For You" in 1984 as a young teen. In my adult years I started listening to more and more Chaka and Rufus. An incredible discography. This is right up there with her best.

My man Jack, thank you for reviewing this. Chaka Khan is my favorite female singer & this song is Def one of her dopest songs!

It's from 1981. A lot of music from this period still had some 70's vibe to it because soul/R&B music still had live instrumentation. The synthesizer takeover of music was happening around the time this song was out too where horns and live drums were being replaced by digital keyboards and drum machines.

Sassy and sexy song. Grammy winner. Chaka was a mentor to the young Mary J.

i just know that whoever was on the keyboard was killin' that bass line for sure. the bass line gives me ugly face when i am groovin' to this. i am a sucker for nasty bass lines. that is why i am such a fan of the producer/composer Rod Temperton.

People can sometime be easily "brainwashed" by following the crowd. That's why some (lesser talked about) songs might actually be better than the (more popular) hits. This song (imho) is at least one of Chaka's top 3, and maybe even top 2...

This song was written and originally composed by the Average White Band. Their version was a little slower. Chaka and company picked up the tempo and turned into a big hit.

You’re close. The original “Wha’ Cha Gonna Do For Me” wasn’t done by AWB. The singer’s name is Ned Doheny, who wrote and recorded “A Love Of My Own” with Hamish Stuart on background.
