@@Sttephy30 : yes, she did. Whitney sang the climax live during her 1993 leg of the Bodyguard Tour. After she gave birth her voice got deeper so I guess that's why she just didn't even try to sing it live. Here's a fully live one; kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKaVoYiZodWinJY
@Sttephy303 жыл бұрын
@@andrese9805 That's not the actual bridge tho. Even before giving birth, Whitney never sustained G5's live, back too back, as heard on _I'm Every Woman_ bridge live. That video was actually touched F5's and it was lowered a whole key down. She never sang the actual bridge live, the way it was done in the studio. Chaka Khan did tho, and this wasn't even Chaka's prime. Whitney does have some nicely quickly sustained G5's in the 80's tho. But never like she did on record. She's too chesty, and doesn't properly mix to sustain F#5's, let alone G5's, with vibrato, live, as heard on record. No biggie tho, Whitney wasn't a high belting vocalist like Aretha, Chaka, Patti or Lisa Fischer were. She shined in the mid belts and head voice.

Chaka is one of VERY few legendary singers who somehow managed to retain powerful voice after decades of singing, Even today she still sound very similar... She hits the notes and switches between tones so effortlessly, she makes it seem so easy -- its just incredible. Not many singers today sound as natural talent as Chaka (and some other old typers) --- Today, there are many good singers of there but they mostly sound "manufactured & too trained" --- Like Beyonce, Ariana, Christina Aguilera etc... Yes these people can sing but something about it just doesnt sound natural...it's missing that genuine "soul"

Pretty much anything in the 90s - her voice was at it’s absolute best in my opinion. It was smooth like wine, but she could still do the vocal acrobatics from the 70s and 80s. Best performances though: her performance of Night in Tunisia at the Soul Train Awards, This performance and her live performance of I know you, I live you in 1981 are my favorites.

No - because her voice was ragged by drugs. When she would perform this song - they had to dub in the high notes - because Whitney could not hit them anymore! Don't get me wrong - Whitney could sing baby - she just made some bad choices
@cincereqoutes88443 жыл бұрын
@@bostonteaparty3926 true. I think she could hit those high belts, but not consistently by this time (mid 90s). To hear her sing this in studio or even sing this pre 1993 would have been dope and a treat.

@@cincereqoutes8844 She wouldn't have been able to sing those high belts in 1990 or 1991 either. maybe 1986. Whitney's voice didn't sit that high and she was too chesty to sustain that high like Chaka
@Sttephy303 жыл бұрын
@@bostonteaparty3926 Oddly enough, Chaka was still doing drugs around this time, and still sounded amazing. I wonder why Whitney lost her voice, yet, Chaka, who did drugs longer than Whitney, never really lost her voice.

@@Sttephy30 I see what you mean. Mid to late 80s was the prime for her super high belts. And yes. The few times Whitney did go up there live, most of it was VERY chesty. She did some good E5s and F5s to this song. By the time Whitney belted the F#5s and G5/G#5 portion of this song, her voice was too chesty. .... If only she mixed a little bit more during this portion. It woulda been so much easier for her to song this portion.
