Note, I remember watching the Jackson 5 perform on tv singing “Stop...you better save me;” collecting their record(s), 45s, on Honeycomb cereal boxes (we did not even like that cereal, but Wow!!!, to get a J-5 record was worth it); watching their Saturday morning cartoon shows; and seeing them live in New York...on a school night!!! Prince hit the scene with, “Wanna be your lover...” I purchased the 45. Then Whitney hit the scene and MTV helped catapult her fame with her “How Will I Know” video. All had videos, but I think MTV really took off around 1985-1987. Prior to that, MTV had a 30 minute show on CBS, after the news, to introduce music videos.
