I was pleased last semester when I took a high school level science class that the lab I took it in still had a chalkboard. The teacher showed us a VHS tape about the water cycle and frequently used an overhead projector. Some of his worksheets were clearly originally typewritten.

I don't personally understand why we as a society DON'T take things seriously. How many problems stem from people not knowing simple things? If there were tutorial vids on everything and people were properly educated our society would run more efficiently and less problems would occur, leading to less fights, less anger and frustration, and allow people to spend more time doing things they care about. For instance how many times has someone misused a chemical product because they had no idea what it was or how it worked? By simply having an educational video on what exactly a chemical is, you can use it far better. Which is why I am not a fan of how many products work hard to obscure their ingredients. I understand they want to protect their recipe, but in many cases to properly use something the more you understand about the product the better you can use it.

I taught public school for 21 years with chalkboards. No one who has written on a chalkboard, especially cursive, would ever want to write on a slippery white board. I taught at private school for 13 years with a chalkboard, except the last one. They were intent on updating and changed out the board in spite of my protests!

I grew up with my sister teaching me preschool lessons on her chalkboard and it was the most fun at "school" i ever had when she would let me draw on her chalkboard. I got to school and by then they had replaced chalkboard with dry erase. I have to admit the switch makes since, but dame it if chalkboards aren't more fun to use and learn with. :(

Interesting video. Brought back memories from school in the 1950's and 1960's. Those old blackboards sometimes freaked out some of the kids when the chalk would make that high pitch squeal. Some kids would do that on purpose!! LOL! Never bothered me, though.

Ever since I had awareness of school 🏫 i was obsessive with chalkboards! I loved seeing them on TV...I was excited for kindergarten and when I got there on my first day a rectangular board was in place of it! I went home confused why don’t they have chalkboards at school? I grew up hating whiteboards...this was in 1999 kindergarten... White boards just don’t seem like a school tool blackboards are so much more old-fashioned and wholesome..I went to a church growing up and they had a Catholic school in one of the classrooms it was a third grade one and they had a beautiful black board and I snuck in there to dry things it was the closest thing to the real deal!

@@cylurian You can custom order a board. Im not sure how small they make a board. I just ordered a baord and i got the highest grade board they sell, porcline. My board is not yet hung so i cannot confirm how well it writes, but it appears to write well. I'll comment as soon as i can out how it writes. The frame is good and strong. Hope that helps.

@@cylurian The porcelain chalkboard is very nice to write on. No, its not the same as slate, but its the next best to it. They recommend Prang chalk, and this is a nice chalk to use; it has some weight, which I like. The Crayola brand is ok, but if you can, get a higher grade chalk. The porcelain boards are magnetic also. Seeing as you are seeking a personal side, not sure what you could use magnets for. The person I worked with that helped me get my board was very helpful. I kinda wished i had added another foot to the length!!
