I agree with Nico, especially on the HK market. We export most of our watches to overseas, and our prices are probably the lowest around the world. Dealers buy watches from HK, and not the other way around. Even with the Japanese yen depreciating by a huge amount this year, HK prices are still below them. Food for thought.

Respectfully disagree, UK prices are definitely not the lowest, for some models yes but for others it is even more expensive than US. HK affects the US market but the US market inversely affect the world market unfortunately... Also I guess it doesn't help that the overall fiscal economy is in a recession...

A 20,000 dollar watch what rocketed to 55 thou and now what a bargain its come down to 49 thou dollars what planet are these guys on telling people to rush out and buy one while they've slightly come down from 3 times what there worth from a AD

$20k to $55k and now $49k… it’s still an excessively leveraged market to my point of view… So with a 10% drop it is a crash ?! I only see a correction which is normal. As soon as the buyers perceive value in what they buy then they can drive the prices extremely high whilst the frenzy goes on especially if people have a belief of scarcity. The issue comes when these same people realise that there is something wrong between what they really have and the money they paid for it… Then they start selling. If too many are trying to get rid of the same goods simultaneously then the market freezes as buyers become rare… Cash loaded people will wait on the sidelines to buy at the lowest. It’s a time game exactly as stock, Fx, bonds, commodities, etc…

@@patrickjean-philippe7679 I'm sorry but if you think a 20k rolex is worth 50k then the world as gone crazy probly if it wasn't for the rappers and the new generation of you tubers with more money then sense then rolex would not be where it is now ! Also these what they call grey market dealers are not getting these watches at a cost of a AD and I have noticed these dealers are paying 50k for a watch and selling for 59k now that 59k watch they can not sell it is 49k now ! honestly when the bubble pops unless they have made money in the past then I think there's going to be some very sad watch dealers some of the dealers are probly making more money off you tube ! and if you look when they go to the shows most of the dealers have multiple of whats supposed to be rare on show the last show I watched all the dealers was saying no-one was buying I wonder why ?

I think that people who pay these high prices for rather mundane watches are either extremely rich so money no object vs immediacy or they are totally off their head especially if they are thinking that they are doing a sound investment. I would never buy a new or recent watch over retail price. Vintage is different obviously, and for this it is possible to look at auctions results but this must not prevent personal thoughts and common sense. Watches will not necessarily appreciate, when I buy a watch, any watch aside from vintage, I am prepared to loose 50% of what I paid for. When I buy a genuine vintage watch I try to limit my loss thinking that either the value will remain stable or increase but the reality is that it can also decrease.

Black market and speculative buying are the reason i desisted from getting on rolex, as long as i can't get in to an AD and buy a watch at retail price I prefer to take my buissness else where

I see prices of hot pieces have tumbled. I look at the spread between what dealers buy and sell these pieces at. In Hongkong, some dealers have even reneged on their -15% buyback guarantees, and they are lowballing offers and trade-ins. Maybe it's just a liquidity issue with individual dealers, maybe the market has changed. Time will tell.

People are offering insulting amounts for Rolex pieces. It’s a matter o who has the bear cash flow and if things continue as they are the dominoes will fall starting with dealers that are cash strapped

I would choose a Tiffany single red sub. I am young but have old school values. Nothing is better then vintage fine wine. Like opening a vintage bottle of red wine. Vintage rolex like that is better then a modern rolex anyday bc its a jewel 👌 in watch industry and diamond. They don't make them like that anymore. Tiffany stamp alone will net you a large profit bc of the cobrand. And red color.

So the majority of gray dealers are refusing to buy outright or are bidding lowball offers at or below msrp to cover their behind.. This is actually creating a huge rut in the market as flippers are rejecting calls for “hot” models from ADs because there is no bid and or no margin. This is putting even more pressure on the prices and its becoming a cascading effect. I think the dealer community does not realize this so they are running the risk of huge write-offs in their hype inventories. This could get ugly fast. Thats the risk you run on doing business in an unregulated and unethical market such as the gray.

Red line probably a redial. Maybe. Lots of these red line so old you even get uneven patina on redials. On newer Rolex’s the grey guy in the video said ‘Buy so many watches I don’t even remember.’ How does that dealer know if movement is not a high end fake? Or if movement was swapped from another old Rolex but case and dial are new. Most grey guy’s are honest. The truth is they don’t even know 100%. It’s all about taking your money. Paul Thorpe said ‘ Everything is for sale except the wife’ See Nico there he delayed paying Osine for 6 weeks plus. It’s all on google and u tube do your homework. Wait for AD who stock comes from Rolex. If you can’t wait, buyer beware. All in Paul Thorpe’s circle of taking your money trust.
