It's a glitch. He wasn't actually blocking. He was not able to hit him because he had the glitch. Block hitting is effective in a lot of sword combat, but it depends on your position in the fight.

Every 30-45 seconds you have to drink a sip of (very) hot sauce UNLESS you get a kill. OR you can do this: The place you come in at the end of the game is the amount of sips of hot sauce you must take. For example, if you come in 2nd place (2nd to last person to die) you must take 2 sips. If you come in 12th place, then you need to take 12 sips of hot sauce.
