I'm on a septic system and started hearing a gurgle from the kitchen sink drain. pulled the service cap off the septic tank and found it was ready to be emptied. Figured that must be causing the problem. Had that done and the next thing we knew the toilets were backing up. Did a little research and found there is a blockage in the pipe to the tank. Tried putting a small nozzle down the cleanout pipe outside but nasty things were coming back up. My suspicion was right, had a block at the tank. Called a plumbing service and they wanted 425.00 + to come out. And that would be in 2-3 days. Thank God for this video! Went to the big box store and picked up a bladder, came home, stuck it in the pipe as directed in this video and in 5 min all was golden! Try it! You'll like it! My wife and I sure did! We love saving money! Thank you soooo much for this video!

I have been having sewage backup issues every since the city came out last week and perform unknow maintenance on my sewage line. My toilets would stop up and raw sewage would backup in my bath tubs and showers. Called a plumber to come out and take a look and he ghost me. I got pissed, went on the internet determine to fix the job myself and behold,; I came across this KZbin video. Went to HD, paid $21 + tax , plugged the bladder into the back yard sewage clean out (Trap). After 5-10 minutes of use the sewage line was clear. The water in the clean out was gone and the toilets flushed normally. This, is the American dream! I saved a minimum of $65.00 just for the plumber to show up. Thank You!

Came out and told me $600 to run their big snake... I reluctantly told them to give it a go. He couldn't reach the clog and they would have to send out their bigger equipment tomorrow which would cost $1,100. So while waiting I found this video, ran to the hardware store and with in 10 minutes I had it clear with this beautiful little device. Called the plumber back to cancel. $20 fixed what the plumber wanted $1,100 for. lol. Thanks Again.

As a plumber that has and still uses these from time to time for minor blockages mainly cleaning residual debris after the line is cleared with a cable. If you put this in a pipe in your home or any building if it doesn't clear all the water will backfeed from that open pipe and come out all over your floor.

You may want to have someone camera that line. If you keep having problems there's likely something wrong with the pipe like root intrusion, foreign objects, grease buildup, sagging, offsets or even a break. If the house has low flow toilets you could potentially mitigate clogs by swapping toilets that use more water. Paying someone to camera is just a few hundred bucks but the knowledge or peace of mind gained can be priceless.

As someone who spent 2 years as a service plumber and is actively working at a hydro jetting company these tools, while effective, are incredibly situational and usually are only effective if they are used at a access location where there is no other tie ins or vents between the insertion and blockage if there are other tie ins or vents there is a very real risk of flooding via the tie in or vent

Thank you soooo much! This helped me a TON! Our outside sewer line has 3 traps, so I started at the furthest and flushed AWAY from the house (obviously). I worked backwards because it seemed like it would be easier to flush the pipe in sections rather than trying to flush the pipe from the beginning all the way thru the yard and out to the end. It worked flawlessly. So much stuff blew thru the line that I was amazed (but in a gross way lol). If anyone is interested, Harbor Freight has the sewer bladder for $9.99. I also got it at 30% off. Of recently borescope digital cameras have come down in price. We are talking less than $100. They often had a reach of about 16 feet and some connect to a Smartphone or to a dedicated 5 inch display. It will allow you confirm a blockage is gone or some other problem like a cracked pipe which allows roots and other things inside the line. But the expansion bladder does pay for itself in one unclogging. Use it FIRST before sending a camera down the drain and don't use an old bladder because rubber dry rots even after a few years .

You can also, with great care, use this to find the location of the blockage but you must have extra people to monitor the kitchen and bathrooms when you do this. Great video!

That same company sells one just like it, but instead of pin hole on one side; both sides have the gold metal piece it’s part #750. THIS IS THE MOST POWERFUL ONE!!!!! The pin hole is okay, but the identical one with the metal piece instead of the pin hole will unclog almost anything. You use to find these at any local hardware years ago until they found out how good they worked & started taking money away from plumbers. Need a couple because will burst & tear after so many uses - but you’ll get your $20 worth. Going on 23 years of 5+ people in the house & never paid a plumber to come. Goes to show how long this tool has been around.

I suggest a 4-6' hose with a cut-off valve to put on the end of the main hose and use only it for sewers, that way you don't get your big expensive hose in the shit and you can work this with one person because you don't want it popping out when you turn the hose on which can happen if you don't do it properly.

When you use one of those, as long as it gets the drain running pretty quickly, that's fine but if it doesn't get the drain running pretty quickly, the water will back up the vent from the drain and before you know it, you'll hear water running down the nearest downspout outside your house because the vent on your roof for the drain you are trying to unblock is overflowing which means, that water bag is not getting the drain running. When that happens, you'll need to "snake" the blocked drain the old conventional way.

Ive been using these for years. I have three different sizes. Havent had to use them for two years now that i put root killer down my pipes 2 times a year I used to use hot water to help unblock the pipes… but the bladders blow up after the second time id do it. It was a plumber who hooked me up with my first one… if that cant clear it, then i rent a commercial power snake

I used a large bladder in my 4" main line. After turning the water off, the bladder got stuck when i tried pulling it back out. I figured out how to twist the hose clockwise so it wouldnt unscrew the bladder and that freed the bladder to retrieve it.

Man I really appreciate this! I cracked the lid of mine .. I'm hoping that I can find a replacement at the nearest hardware store.

I have a property that keeps getting blocked every 6 months or so. Tenant was flushing wipes, but at least it's not roots. First time called a plumber, 2nd time used a large auger and did it myself (I own one, but it a pain and messy). I didn't even know about this tool. I went to the hardware store and got it right away and it worked without me getting covered this time. Thank you for the video and tips. This was a weekend and wallet saver!

I’ve worked in a restaurant industry for 24 years and I use one of those multiple times a year just to clear out floor drains

Did you ever happen to make a video about using the snaller ones to use inside to clog a main drain? Im wondering because my mothers house has a clog in the main sewer line and the clean out is buried under a flower bed by a few feet so i want to see if theres a way to clear it without having to dig that cleanout up.

Just bought one last week at Harbor Freight for $9.99. This opened the line up in about 5 minutes but 2 days later it was clogged again. The 2nd time I hooked it up to the hot water heater and ran for 5 minutes. So far so good. I believe there are some roots in the line so this will just be a temporary fix for me.

They sell root killer for sewer lines. My dad had this same problem for a few years until he started religiously using root killer every spring and fall. Lilacs have incredibly invasive root systems. A 100 foot industrial snake auger failed where this clog buster got it running again.

Oh and a few rounds of scalding hot water helped too i imagine. Crank your hot water heater to max..

Tremendous.. I have a septic tank far away from my house and the clean out is near the house, but so far it appears clear. Still doing the water flush out and looks like the coast is clear. Thanks a million!!!

Just picked up a Kobolt one from Lowes while waiting for a plumber and it worked like a champ. Not bad for $20 and saved my at least a couple of $100. Thanks for the video.
