Challenger 1000 review part 1

One of the first 1000 series in our area and we got our hands on it for a couple days and we really liked it. Agri-Service is the supporting dealer

The dipstick on the rear end is transmission/axle only. Not hydraulic. The hydraulic is the one on the RH side of the cab and has a digital level gauge in the dash. The hood doesn't need the key to get unlocked. Can leave it unlocked and open it with one push of the button. Power plugs, my dealer put the north American power bar in with several different adapters to make it work for most of the implements we have. Got to have the escape hatch if you don't have a right hand door. Cab pressurization is for when you spray or use any other chemicals it will prevent that from entering the cab with the use of the carbon cab filter.

The 8400R is a DREAM COME TRUE! We had the opportunity to demo one and it’s like the same as that one but shorter and less prone to fires. Plus it’s a Deere for easy service techs. It seemed like a great machine.

Glad i went with the fendt instead since they come with a 3 year full service package worth 15,000 and as for cabs the Fendt has a lot nicer interior quality and more options just dont care for the Euro style plugins in the cab and i also can agree on the rear outlets being higher than most

Does look nice... just wish they could make the tractor a bit longer so it makes maintenance a little easier to get around everything. Even those little things you mentioned can be a deal-breaker for something that could get used every day.

Well my cat dealer looked around and he couldn't find the acres per hour...and acres per hour is pretty essential for applying manure

You can go into the radio and program the frequencies bands. They were supposed to be shipped with North American bands pre set but not all the earlier ones were

You do realize that the challenger is made and owned by the same company as Massey Ferguson right?Agco owns them and also owns Fendt so that challenger is basically a glorified Fendt.

mrhorsepower150 American tractors look a lot more basic and no where near as advanced as European tractors tbh. They don't have automatic hitches and three point linkage on them look like they should be on tractors from 1990's and not on modern tractors.

Challenger and Fendt are both owned by AGCO. this particular model of Challenger is pretty well identical to a Fendt for the NA market.

I wonder are you allowed to actually work on anything in the tractor, round here you can't do your own repairs on a fendt. Your dealer can't even do the repair, he is only allowed to remove the transmission/back-end or engine and send it to fendt who will send you back a reconditioned component. Anything mechanical no matter how small if it's a shaft or a seal doesn't matter, 15000 for the transmission and 10000 for the engine each time

Adam Porter That is strange , never heard of . Where do you live ? Around here every farmer or dealer can do all the repairs on a fendt. There is no difference with other brands .

jacky bruckers Ireland, it's the same in the UK or atleast northern Ireland. It has to be done through fendt, there aren't even replacement parts available for them to buy from your dealer.

Adam Porter Is that for all fendt tractors , or just for the 1000 models ? Here in Belgium you can buy every part you want , fix it yourself or in a dealership. But i don't know anything about the repairs on the 1000 models .

Adam Porter About the engines , fendt has no own engine . They use deutz, mwm and man , which are frequently used engines , so allmost every tractor dealer here can order parts for those engines .

Fendt is owned by Agco. The challenger 1000 series is built with the exact same parts as the fendt branded tractors but with less options, ones that aren't widely used in North America
