Van Nuys very familiar territory, I used to live there 55 years ago. The airport used to have an air show every July and that’s where I got my first Trimotor ride. In those days the airport wasn’t even fenced. Looking forward to your new ride. Safe travels.

I tried sending you a message last night. When they were doing the preliminary reporting on the Lear 55 crash in Philly, I was trying to get a response from you to make sure you weren't one of the pilots. Right now, I'll take any considerations you might have on that flight, but from what I saw and heard, tower handed the flight off top center, they responded and that was it, A few seconds later, ten to be exact, tower started calling then again, but by then whatever happened had happened and they were either on the ground or almost there.

baron, i see that you quickly raise the wheels on your jets right after takeoff, is this normal for most pilots? i ask because someone on KZbin was pointing out that the learjet 55 that crashed in PA had its headlights on all the way to impact, implying that they were down. would this indicate a normality, or that the crew may have been distracted by something during takeoff?

I’ve never flown a Lear 55 so I can’t speak as to where their lights are located. On most jets there are lights in the wings with only the taxi light being on the gear. As for your question, yes the procedure is positive rate gear up.
