Super images and clear explanation of lens challenges, Jens. Well done! Review/comparison of a few 2:1 macro lenses would be welcome. My guess is that most folks just keep to 1:1 lens uses. Have you tried the new LR resolution enhancement update? It might be interesting to see how the LR resolution boost for 1:1 macro image compares to regular resolution for 2:1 macro. BTW, timing of post doesn’t mesh with your hat and coat - how come?

Nice photos. About problem with manual aperture ring. Think that if you take piece of gaff tape and fix it in aperture which you like, you dont move with ring by accident (maybe help, I dont have this lens).

If you use electrical tape instead - there is no problem with glue sticking to the lense when you take it off. I use it a lot to do astro-photo :)

Fixing it that way makes sense, as the lens already got scratched from an accident caused by broken ball head, even gaffa tape will be ok:D

@@anotherperspective3076 they become softer, at those apertures , it is the nature of all lenses. Generaly I use mine at f2.8 - f8 max and stack having the camera fixed to a macro rig I built myself.

I am a fan of your videos and this is another excellent one. I would like to know where you got the flash diffuser. I do not see it list in the camera accessory list. Also, it is my understanding that "the lens" determines the amount of magnification and not the size of the camera sensor. The camera sensor affects the "area of field of view" much like looking through a large knothole in a fence compared to a small one. Same view (magnification)...just more of it.
@anotherperspective3076
@anotherperspective3076 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Thank you. Here you can buy the diffuser: popeshield.com. I will add this to the list in future videos. That mangificaition discussion never ends and you are right, but as 1:1 is known as a 36mm image I use this term as transalation when using small sensor cameras (36mm width/36mm = 1:1 || 12mm width / 36mm = 3:1 ...). I just mean... when using a Full frame 1;1 lens on a micro 4/3 f.E. I do not want to t´know the magnificaition is 1:1 I want to know the size of the image (=mangification) I will get using 1:1 on small sensor;)

I'm happy with my Laowa 60mm. But yeah.. I got similar problems. Including changing the aperture by accident. Also shooting in f22 you can't see much through the viewfinder. f8 - f11 seems to be the sweet spot indeed. With focus stacking I normally want to use f22 but the image gets too soft for stacking.

At high magnification it gets harder and harder to capture moving subjects, i had a lot of difficullties shooting ants in 2:1 magnification and above. To get a decent depth of field you can shoot a profile shot of an insect. Other than that i think the subject must be static or dead. For most of high magnification shots they use dead insects combined with focus stacking.

Nice one bud! Same with the 25mm ultra macro, if you go beyond f/8 even, diffraction starts to kick in, f/11 is still acceptable but beyond that trash! I hope Laowa will update their APO 100 2:1, the open design is 😬

Tolles Video, danke.

@anotherperspective3076
@anotherperspective3076 3 жыл бұрын
I have not used the 15mm by myself but seen some videos/reviews. When you look for a normal macro which is used with flash the 60mm is a good choice, the 15mm is VERY unique and offers just that one wide angle look by suffering a little bit of sharpness (I am not 100% sure). If you have already a macro lens, the 15mm is very interesting, but its not that everyday macro lens
