Ha ha I am so glad you addressed my question why did you have shit on your face. Chris 2E0UKH UK. Very informative video. I have been suffering from a noise for 10 years.

Great timing! I won this antenna from the raffle Chameleon was running at NVCON, which was much needed since I was just putting together my first rig. So far, so good. A VE7 was my first ever contact (on CW at 599 no less) and I've worked 10 of the Route 66 stations so far on CW and SSB. Don't have much to compare it to but I really like the antenna and how simple it was to set up. I have 6 radials but still need to properly ground it before the weather changes! Your review made me remember that! 73, James W6NKR

I have the Emcomm II in the go box; very adaptable and simple to set up. At the shack, I’ve been really impressed with an 80m full-wave loop with 4:1 balun- coax fed. Tunes pretty easy on 80m to 6m (won’t work on 60m)...even has around a 2.4:1 SWR on 2m 😎

You could also lower sphincter modulation by adding a C-clamp to the eave of the house for a ladder tie-off. Climbing those ladders repeatedly can only equate to playing the lotto in reverse! As usual, great video Bob...thx!

With a couple ground rods, mfj choke at feedpoint, good shack grounding system, separate dc/ac/coax etc, and good ferrite will get you down to S1 to sometimes up to S3. These steps have been absolutely amazing for using this antenna. Ive set it up as an inverted L with the vertical at approx 32’. I have 4 counterpoise

Where does the ferrite go?

I have one and it’s set up as an inverted V no ground and it works great. 10-160 M and have used it 500 watts. 73 de KI5GLT.

Less noise also means less signal strength due to the losses in that antenna! And at 150 bucks, I could build 3 or 4 of them with money left over.

Add 6 or seven clip-on ferrite beads before the cable enters your shack. End Fed antennas are notorious for RF getting into the shack on the coax. Without the ferrite beads (1:1 or ugly balun) RF gets into my mic, laptop, stereo, and even the solar controller! I use a 134' end fed in an inverted "L" in the RV many times a month. Personally, I have found that while an 80m doublet has better performance, the end fed antenna mounted on a Spiderbeam telescopic mast goes up much faster (only need to shoot one line up into a tree) and it is plain simple to install and wrap. Thanks for a good review! Thought that your XYL or the old mast sucker punched you! LOL!!! de AI6US

I added an mfj-915, a larger flat strap ground, and some additional ferrite for this setup.....dropped my noise from s7-s8 down to about s4-s6 depending on conditions. Actually thought you had a serious sun spot on your face....lol

Hey Bob I was just thinking about getting this antenna I just lost mine in a hurricane😥 how was the standing wave on the different bands? Thanks for the videos kn4rfg
@K6UDA5 жыл бұрын
You're going to need a tuner with this. without one expect 2.5:1 or more depending on the configuration.

@@K6UDA ok I was thing about putting it in a flat horizontal position about 30 foot above ground that my help alittle!

when you review the Emcom III try to ask figure why it is rated for 160m with shorter wire than this one that only goes to 80m with longer wire. I don’t get it. I’ve called Chameleon but yet to have someone answer the phone.
@K6UDA5 жыл бұрын
The instructions say it’ll do 160 but it didn’t work well for me. I’m thinking I’d need four 54’ counterpoises. No room here for that.
@forgetyourlife5 жыл бұрын
K6UDA i don’t think it does. Their own website says 10-80 for the Base model.

Carl runs a Facebook page for vertical antennas. He responds quickly to text messages. Often within 24 hours. I’ve messaged home 3-4 times and gotten a reply each time.

RobPetty622 I don’t use facebuck. I got a reply on thier Group.io page though. The manuel and the website do say 2 different things. There are a few mistakes. The Base works 10-80 and 160 with a tuner.

Not a bad review,l I guess, but it didn't answer a number of questions I'd have wanted answered. Sorry, but it appeared to be replacing one compromised antenna with another. That's not an improvement as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think I would buy it, I have made a lot of different wire type antennas and $150 for a wire antenna is a little expensive. Good video explaining the unit, thanks for the info.
@carllavoie38045 жыл бұрын
Bob should have included that the wire used is Copper Clad KEVLAR PTFE (Teflon) (-70°C to 150°C) wire. It not any kind of wire!
