The atmosphere that night was unlike any other I'd experienced at a gig. It was packed full of people who had waited an eternity to see their favourite band - just like me. A night I will not forget.

I didn't know they got back together and touring. I thought after "The sun and the Moon" (Burgess, Lever with Clegg) they were gone. I stop going to record stores in the 90s.. when this concert came out I was just learning to be a dad. What a great opportunity I missed while having a great opportunity of being a dad.

I saw them last September (2015) playing as Chameleons Vox since Mark Burgess was the only original member. It didn't matter: they were glorious. It was a small venue so I got to talk to him about gear and I told him that listening to his band in the 80's was one of the reasons I started playing bass...

Larry Evans It wasn't in San Francisco I hope. I heard everyone was calling the Elbo Room the "Echo Room" because apparently the acoustics were terrible for their type of music. My girlfriend and I just got back from NYC when we heard Mark's girlfriend Delia had put the tickets on sale. I should of went to LA to see them 2 days later. I really wish I had put off my NYC trip a few weeks because he was in Brooklyn not long afterwards.
@gracie9920018 жыл бұрын
Paul Day It was in Columbus, Ohio, Paul, at a bar called Ace of Cups. Small venue, but they routinely pull in awesome shows. I'm really glad that I saw them there; the sound guy seemed to know what he was doing.

If it was possible to get PBS to book a large concert of 5000 seats or bigger in NYC on Broadway and try and get donations and or give out tickets as well to sell a DVD in which the band could get much needed money for future touring. And instead of them opening for Echo and the Bunnymen, have it the other way around, along with say Tone on Tails. that would be an awesome lineup. -Paul D.

A gem of a band. legends. Amazing. Our own underground paradise of genius artists that chose to never sell out. The ultimate respect. I have them up there with The Doors, as one of my top 3 bands of all time next to the Beatles. Kings of the 80s underground. These guys could've been rich and famous easily but said F**K you to the big labels.

Incredible how they with a few others laid foundations or were such a huge influence for the various Manchester / baggy / indie scene which spawned so many household names . Amazing or ironic how in 87 all them bands like Mock Turtles James Stone Roses Inspirals etc etc were just getting noticed to then become huge & some world famous - whom peak or are fizzling out at the turn of the century , so These Boys re-appear as if to hopefully remind the music critics and companies of their existence and of the debt those companies owe to Authentic acts or trailblazers like the Chameleons whom didn’t get to bathe in non-stop total glory as with Oasis or the ravey gravey Primal Scream & Happy Mondays 😁 new forest Chameleons & Reegs Fanclub me and 🐢🐢🐢🐢👍

why no Swamp Thing? Was it because it didn't fit with the darker tunes of the set? It's cool when bands have the balls not to roll out the "biggest hits " or favoutites but i am still miffed anyway. Thanks to scouse Kenny without whom us in new forest maybe had never heard these fellas X pixietheplumber

They kicked off with Swamp Thing when I saw them at the Manchester Ritz later that year. Great gig. Don't know why they didn't play it here seeing as it was one of their best and most recognizable songs. RIP John Lever. Top bloke. Top drummer.

They did open with Swamp Thing at this concert, the filming here actually opens right after the band had just finished playing it...due to technical difficulties it was sadly edited out.

Off topic but I actually saw a documentary when Rush split up for solo projects, in which Neil Peart was asked if he would be interested in other genres.. outside of Jazz I believe he actually said a Gothic or Post Punk band. I want to find the interview somewhere. But triple rolls on Mad Jack or a solo during Paradiso would be pretty badass. Someone with pull make this happen please :|

Jesus - since re discovering the chameleons last summer ( thanks to modern technology & hence finding the reegs / red sided garter snakes ) , i haven't stopped playing them apart from a band whom i loved before they started sounding like The Police -Rush ! I heard and bought Clockwork Angels. I ain't the only odd bugger into these diverse bands . Love from new forest.
@paulthomas78877 жыл бұрын
I try to listen to different genres.. some I can't listen to much of. but yeah, it's good to hear some similarities in different forms of rock and I was thinking it would be interesting to have a TV show where they could bring members from different bands to play together .. like give them 20 minutes to write a little tune and have them perform and then the band that wins gets to give 10-20k to a good cause (I'm sure they all would be paid as well) It might give newcomers a chance to play with their idols
