It is based on an alternative version they already did in 1987 prior to record the "definitive one" that was later issued on the "Tony Fletcher Walked on Water" EP. They probably preferred the early take for live performance with ChameleonsVox.

I walked into Best Buy one day years ago and in the C section was the ST 2 disc edition from Germany I think and it had ever after on it which was not on the version I had so I bought just for that o e song. Luckily it was a killer song!! I can’t believe they dropped ever after instead of one of the covers which I never listen too.
