i enjoy splitting by hand. i mostly split 12 in or less maple, red oak and locust. i had an opportunity to pick for free a very large oak . about 30 pieces pre cut from a neighbors house. most were 28in rounds. beautiful fire wood, but almost impossible to crack by hand. i broke down and bought the 27 ton like yours. could not be happier. about 7 cords split with ease.

Haha yeah I enjoy splitting by hand just when it’s a bit and I want a workout. As I age I’m more inclined to use the splitter.

First off, I Love the Cats, We lost our Tuxedo cat after 23 years, she just died of old age. We miss her. I wish my Champion 27 ton splitter had a Honda on it. I got it on 1/4/21 from Home Depot, for $1,100.00 US. mine is the full bean. I tried to buy a 4 way wedge, can't get one. I even ask Champion about it. Looks like someone welded one of your log catchers. I want the same things you do for improvements. I never got one of those tubes to store my book and paper work in. You need to install an oil filter. I never have wood under the cylinder, maybe because I have the Full Beam unit. I get it at the other end where the flat plate is. wow 23 yrs is a good life though. The cats were a great addition to the farm and they always follow me around wherever i go lol. I still can't get a 4 way and if I welded it it's too permanent what if I only need a single split. What I do is split a log then turn the 2 halves and split again...at least it saves a cycle. Yeah the Honda hasn't let me down yet, starts up every time. Thanks for watching bud.

Yeah, she was my right hand gal that day of filming. She rides shotgun sometimes, but I'm always worried she'll jump out and hurt herself. She hasn't yet though probably I'm just so worried about all these animals here.

Great video Chad! I just bought the same spliter on sale at CT. I'm picking it up in a few days. Just wondering if yours came with all the fliuds.?

No I had to add motor oil and hydraulic oil but I also bought it unassembled. If I remember right it came with motor oil but I had to go back and buy an 18L pail of hydraulic oil. I bought mine at CT also, but I’m not sure if it’s already assembled if it has all the fluids. It hasn’t met a stump it couldn’t split yet so it’s been a good machine. Enjoy.

Hi Chad any splitter is better than a ax. I went with a Wallenstein 3pt splitter on my 1025r for guy like us that due 5 to 10 cord a year it is all you need. I have a friend in Coldwater his land you can see the 400. Hope to make it back to the Big Chute this year.

Yeah ur right on Dave, they all beats the ax. I picked this one up at Canadian Tire on sale and have been happy with it thus far and it always starts on 1 pull. Wallenstein make a really good product. I was going to get the chipper/shredder, but it was a bit pricey and only did 4" logs so I went with woodland mills 6" instead.

How do you turn it off? emergency turn off switch or turning the gas off and waiting until it shuts off?

I just slow the rpms right down and turn off the gas switch.

Hello, Can you tell me if that Black tube that you have on your splitter was an add on or did this come with your Champion. I'm trying to buy one for my Champion. If it did come with your splitter what is the part number so I can call Champion. If it is an add on from someone else where did you buy it and what do they call this and maybe a part number, Thank You !

Thanks Chad, for the info from Champion on the Black Tube part numbers. I also added a RPM and Hour meter to mine. I can keep track of the hours for oil changes.

Where did you get honda motor

It came with it when I bought the splitter. They had one with a generic engine and one with a Honda so I paid the $300 more to get the honda model figuring you can't go wrong with a Honda. Never had any issue starting it either, runs like a charm.
