I just love the fact that this event is OTB. There's something incredibly elegant and mesmerizing watching actual physical pieces move on the board, the intimacy, nerves breaking down and pieces flying off the board cannot be matched in an online environment. This also is a form of celebration. Bringing the people together. I actually think it's more important now than ever before.

The production on Day One was absolutely terrible. Like, in every possible way. DGT boards glitching. Terrible camera angles on the boards. Not enough cameras. No digital boards for the first many minutes of Armageddon. Several Armageddon games starting simultaneously. Chess has been broadcast with very high production values for years. Hope they learn some lessons before Day Two.

There should be 1 camera each so that they can jump from one to the other seamlessly. The camera doesnt get a good view of the board because it keeps on moving from one play to the next.

I understand this is high level chess, and they try to show the games as delicassy, bon bons. But for me changing the shown boards constantly makes me loose all continuity on boards, and it becomes a puzzle slide show. Would prefer focusing on one board then the next from the start, etc. even if that means some aren't live boards.
