Man I really REALLY hope FM finally changes the extremes of home-away matches. It doesn't make sense to have such drastic differences in performance each time a home-away tie is being played. Sure, there are a lot of teams that are near unplayable when at home (Madrid, Liverpool etc), but for it to happen so often in FM, it's completely out of the ordinary. I am hopeful that this will be tweaked in FM26 because I have given up on FM25 being anything above average (if it ever comes out).

That CL loss was one of those weird moments where it really feels like the game is trying to teach you something. Ansen having such a poor game while Restes has an 8.1 in that first leg would just feel like the game was screaming at me to find a world class keeper

That first game against Dortmund... FM at its finest when you are doing to well. In the second game, it's always so weird to see no highlights at all when you are committing like 7-8 players forward.

Try and watch the full match when you change your system like that. There are so many idiotic things happening, no wonder why you can never see a highlight when playing with 8 players up top.

When you have Brennan in that central striker role, would there be any benefit to switching his role to a deep lying forward rather than advanced forward? Allowing Sheldon and Mohamed to play around him as a a bit more of a pivot?

I would say make him a Target Forward, but that role isn't *meta* so it doesn't get used often. Really in that system with the 2 PFs on support, you'd need someone who will be just the top player to be used as an outlet (poacher, target forward etc) but for some reason AF works for every system despite basically having to do everything by itself.

I wanna take this opportunity after these games against Dortmund to kinda temper your expectation of the team. When you call players like Flood, Mohamed, Wallace and maybe even Ejaria absolute starters, you can't really expect the team to win trophies against the likes of Man City, Arsenal etc. I realise that you're limited to english players, and this shouldn't be a critique of squad building or anything, but the current players just aren't as good as the performances make them seem (I also realise that Dortmund didn't deserve to even win the 1st game, but my point stands that the players are playing better than they should be)
