The runner who fell had her trailing leg hanging instead of near horizontal to the ground. Eventually, inevitably it caught the top of the hurdle. I have observed that women hurdlers rarely use classic hurdling technique, jumping instead of snapping over the barrier. I suspect that part of the reason is that the hurdles are not high enough to demand proper hurdling technique. Modern female athletes may be being asked to clear a height that used to be more appropriate to weaker, amateurish athletes.

Veronica tecnicamente da rivedere; seconda gamba con ginocchio puntato a terra e piede pericolosamente pure, ovvio che nel finale, quando la fatica si fa sentire, perda assetto ulteriormente mettendo a rischio la corretta esecuzione tecnica. Avrebbe chiuso in 12"80 o meno ... la svizzerotta forse le sarebbe rimasta davanti comunque ma un argento era tutto suo. Grande dispiacere vederla incocciare come già accaduto anni or sono nella rassegna Europea per le Allieve. Grande talento, assolutamente.

Really sucks that a race had to end like this. I feel sorry for Besana. And honestly the fact that non of the others came back to her after the race is a pretty poor display of sportsmanship

And on instagram she made a story about how much she respects Besana. Really shitty character. But at least no matter if she has the medal or not, Besana is faster and better than her
