@rientsdijkstra42666 ай бұрын
When you look at her races you see that she normally kicks coming out of the last corner, taking her distance from her competitors over the last 100m, although sometimes she waits to the last 30 meters if she had no reason to work for a good time. That burst of speed in the last part is her speciality though and on the day McLaughlin will have a very hard time to keep up with her, certainly as I see how she is shaping up, and not even completely winded after this WL. As commentators said: she seems to have more in the tank, and she will improve further towards Paris.
@ElieWeissenbach-xx1yi6 ай бұрын
Very interesting is the comment by the great former World Record holder on the 400m Michael Johnson. He said (I quote from memory): "many coaches want their pupils to go as fast as possible from the starting block, but that is not the best strategy on the 400 meter. The problem is that if you do that you burn to much energy and produce to much lactic acid, and you will be punished for that in the last part of the race". There are many practicall examples of that, like for instance Lieke Klaver who "died" in the mixed relays because she went of to fast, and Kaczamarek who suffered the same fate in the womens 4x400 for going to fast. Femke Bol is the natural embodyment of this "Johnsonian" strategy: with her long legs she is naturally a bit slower from the blocks, but her stride is very efficient which leads to less lactic build up and less energy use, which combined with her natural ability to keep running fast and in form while in lactic, gives her that power on the last 100m. McLaughlin is much more oriented towards a fast start on the other hand. (even though Bol's coach Laurent Meuwly told that Bol is actually faster on the 2nd 100m...) It will be a very interesting confrontation of styles and strategies in Paris.

@@rientsdijkstra4266 Nonsensical statement----I am not sure where this manufactured claim of "that burst of speed in the last part is her specialty" is going to help Bol against Sydney------When your opponent is a much better athlete than you and an even better hurdler than you, you, you having a burst of speed in the last 20meters of a race means nothing because she will be gone----Don't compare Sydney to all the B-rated athletes Bol catches up to when they are ahead-----Bol has not the foot speed to keep up with Sydney much less catching up to her when she is ahead of Bol--------But keep lying to yourself by thinking that Bol has some magical powers that allow her to outrun and outthink Sydney-----You and Bol will be embarrassed in Paris and end up looking the fools that you are.😝😅
