@@kosherun Yep, and I watched the footage several times to see what you are alluding to, and I am sorry, but it is not there. Peeters walks toward Bol with her arms outstreched for a hug, and they give each other a harty hug just of camera. No problem whatsoever. After that Bol is busy congratulating the other runners, and yes there is a moment, such as can happen in such a situation where the movements don't match up, but that has nothing to do with "ignoring". You are seeing things that are not there. Sorry.

Bol has longer legs wich give her a more efficient stride, which leads to Femke nearly always being able to win in the last 100m of the race, and do that efficiently without breaking. In 2023 and 2024 Bol WON 36 races in a ROW, and all of them with 15 meters or more of lead, and never had a problem. McLaughlin ran 5 races (and lost 1) and then dropped out with an injury. Why? Because McLaughlin doesn't run on talent, but on power, she forcing more, which gets her injured, even running only 5 races... And your statement that Bol can't break 50 is just an assumption. I can't imagine being Femke Bol. You are unarguably a "generational talent" who should be reshaping your chosen primary event but..... you live in the time of the greatest to ever do your event. And it isn't you. Can she get below 51? I seriously hope so, just so we see someone pushing McLaughlin-Levrone. Man wouldn't it be cool to have a race in Paris with those two women battling down to the wire?

It seems to me like Femke always puts on a little burst of extra speed right at the end, like with 15m left in the race. Is it my imagination?

No, you are right---she is naturally a slow starter-----but her last-minute burst is not going to help her in Paris---Sydney will be gone by then---------Unless she works on her start, Femke Bol will be so far behind, she will be competing with Jamaica's Rushell Clayton and Shamier Little for silver or bronze in Paris.

When you look at her races you see that she normally kicks coming out of the last corner, taking her distance from her competitors over the last 100m, although sometimes she waits to the last 30 meters if she had no reason to work for a good time. That burst of speed in the last part is her speciality though and on the day McLaughlin will have a very hard time to keep up with her, certainly as I see how she is shaping up, and not even completely winded after this WL. As commentators said: she seems to have more in the tank, and she will improve further towards Paris.

Very interesting is the comment by the great former World Record holder on the 400m Michael Johnson. He said (I quote from memory): "many coaches want their pupils to go as fast as possible from the starting block, but that is not the best strategy on the 400 meter. The problem is that if you do that you burn to much energy and produce to much lactic acid, and you will be punished for that in the last part of the race". There are many practicall examples of that, like for instance Lieke Klaver who "died" in the mixed relays because she went of to fast, and Kaczamarek who suffered the same fate in the womens 4x400 for going to fast. Femke Bol is the natural embodyment of this "Johnsonian" strategy: with her long legs she is naturally a bit slower from the blocks, but her stride is very efficient which leads to less lactic build up and less energy use, which combined with her natural ability to keep running fast and in form while in lactic, gives her that power on the last 100m. McLaughlin is much more oriented towards a fast start on the other hand. (even though Bol's coach Laurent Meuwly told that Bol is actually faster on the 2nd 100m...) It will be a very interesting confrontation of styles and strategies in Paris.

@@rientsdijkstra4266 Nonsensical statement----I am not sure where this manufactured claim of "that burst of speed in the last part is her specialty" is going to help Bol against Sydney------When your opponent is a much better athlete than you and an even better hurdler than you, you, you having a burst of speed in the last 20meters of a race means nothing because she will be gone----Don't compare Sydney to all the B-rated athletes Bol catches up to when they are ahead-----Bol has not the foot speed to keep up with Sydney much less catching up to her when she is ahead of Bol--------But keep lying to yourself by thinking that Bol has some magical powers that allow her to outrun and outthink Sydney-----You and Bol will be embarrassed in Paris and end up looking the fools that you are.😝😅

@@ElieWeissenbach-xx1yi All the examples you spoke about do not apply to Sydney--------If you examine Sydney's races closely, she is able to outpaces her opponents in the first 200m and still maintain a consistent racing approach in the last 200m---Indeed, she increases her speed in the curve after her first 200m and then keeps going without breaking form----------The legendary Edwin Moses, arguably the greatest hurdler of all time said that Sydney is a naturally gifted athlete and is technically ahead of her time as well--------I will take Edwin Moses' view of Sydney over keyboard warriors on KZbin who do not know what they are talking about.
