9:17 it's actually very easy, especially as a black artist, to set up shows in Africa and The Caribbean. And the DJs, Promotors, Tourism officials, they will all roll out the red carpet and be so welcoming and accommodating. Because it's appreciated, as it doesn't happen often. The reality is that the industry was led by white men who did not prioritize bringing artist to Africa/The Caribbean. And it's given the artist a false impression that those places are not interested, easy to navigate, or worthwhile. Happy artist are now gaining more autonomy and independence and realizing what's what.

About half the enslaved Africans in *America* came from Ghana… but remember, enslavement was occurring throughout the Caribbean and parts of South America.
