WALTZ OF THE WEEK #22 - Chancellor Waltz
A contest favorite and extra special waltz - made famous by Jim "Texas Shorty" Chancellor (who is a NEA Heritage Fellow). The tune was actually written by his father, but according to Shorty, "My Dad wrote a waltz called "A Chancellor Waltz" [...] He must have written that tune maybe in the sixties because he wrote the basic melody and actually Benny [Thomasson] participated in kind of adding some embellishment to it. He should have some of the credit for that because he was so capable in taking a simple tune and making it a little fancy."
