In my goblin game, the banyaerak (cleric of Khurgorbeayag) is attempting to rebuild his god's cult under the nose of Maglubiyet. He keeps this spell memorized and uses it to do good works for his tribe as he encounters the need. The immediate benefits of the spell usually don't come into play, but the benefits from him role playing this are amazing. He's gotten members of his tribe to start to worship again and take pride in their faith, rather than just accepting their short brutish life is as good as it gets. He has bonuses on social rolls in most of his tribe's communities for the efforts he's put in.

When I used it I mostly spammed making holy water to give to my teammates to splash on there weapons and I used the funeral one to give like the last rights and give a speech for a teammate that died

....... why? Was holy water scarce in your game? It costs 4 times as much to make your own as it does to buy according to price in the Player's Handbook. More accurately when you make it yourself you create 1/4 of the holy water you'd get buying it for the same 25gp.

@@DazraelArianos For that matter, from the Holy Water Flask item description: a cleric or paladin may create holy water by performing a special ritual. The ritual takes 1 hour to perform, uses 25 gp worth of powdered silver, and requires the caster to expend a 1st-level spell slot. Clerics and Paladins, the only ones who can cast this spell, can already do the exact same thing but better. The only added benefit of the spell is the ability to do it without expending a spell slot.

The +1d4 to ability checks or saving throws works for all checks/saving throws for 24 hours, but that can only be cast once each on a creature.

there is power in using this in the story and for roleplay also, clerics typically will have their ceremonial services booked to have the spell ready, rather than have it prepared at all times, so that can be used in the story too also a non-cleric with cleric ritual casting can have access to this spell, what would that mean for the world? for the character? for the story? haha I really like this spell also imagine a duo of asventurers being married this way while also they have the magiv rings from that bond spell that redirects damage from 1 guy to another and does some other stuff when in close proximity very powerful and flavourful haha

Great comment as always @Xero0! I really like the role play potential too... Imagine that your group of adventurers (4 or more), come across a priest with an ironic gambling addiction. He promises them Divine Protection, in exchange for 100GP each. They hand him the money, he preforms the ritual, and congratulates them on the marriage; as he slips away into the back alleys. The characters must then go on an adventure to undo the accidental marriage, or become the mockery of the adventuring world.

Normally, the non cleric thing would be concerning, but my character began as a celestial warlock. With pact of the tome, book of ancient secrets, and a grateful church full of clerics, my Warlock became an honorary priest of sorts who asked to learn ceremony. I even got my friend and his girlfriend’s character engaged to each other.

The ability checks are all good. But if you make it a Ritual then you can produce Holy Water, giving you the component you need to use Protection from Evil and Good, since it gets consumed.

Wedding doesn't specify it has to be only 2 creatures. You can make a throuple with a zombie or similarly disposable creature, then remarry again if it dies and is resummoned.

Can you do all of them (except the holy water one) on one person by RAW? I tried to do dedication, coming of age and marriage on one person to prepare for a final fight and it was ruled by the dm that I cannot

Haha you can only do 1 vial at a time, so it might take you a while haha!

@@ChancesSpellbook that is why I said that it would probably need a new ritual. One that turns an entire body of water, no matter how large in volume or quantity as long as it is a single body of water, into holy water. Because the elemental plain of water has infinite water.

Yes, but only if She/he/them die
