Rajput Bike Rider Thanks dear. Do you know Chandigarh was planned as a capital for Indian Punjab since after Partition we had lost the capital of undivided Punjab Lahore to Pakistan. Hence Chandigarh was planned as a clean green modern city at the Shivalik foothills as a symbol of newly independent rising India capturing the essence of the beauty that the capital of Punjab deserved . It was built in the 1950s. Islamabad which came around a decade later was modelled on the same pattern as Chandigarh with sectors and all and a similar setting at the base of the hills. Hence both cities look same although I feel Islamabad probably is greater in area and populations as it is your national capital.

Chandigarh is capital of 2 states punjab and haryana I am from kharar when I am free then i like to go Chandigarh .it is famous for its beauty there are myriad tourist places like rose garden rock garden sukhna lake and so on .For proper government management it is divided into sectors every sector has own school .road system of chandigarh is good actually it is well planned city of india

its not under punjab, correct ur facts .. 1) chandigarh is capital of two states - punjab and haryana 2) and secondly it belongs to neither punjab nor haryana, its a one out of 7 union territories of india ( which means under central govt control)
