I read my first Penelope Douglas - Punk 57 - on your recommendation this week! Finished it in less than a day (with working 8 hours in an office). It was SO GOOD. I feel like she so accurately captured that feeling of being in high school, falling in love for the first time. Also, I really appreciated the early aughts alt rock song mentions - Linkin Park, Staind. It took me back to my high school years! So THANK YOU for leading me to a new favorite. 🥰

New favorite, Lily Gold. For me the hallmark of an author I really love is if they can take tropes/love interests/details that you generally aren’t into and turn it into a story you still really enjoy (for me this is her books Nanny for the Neighbors and Triple Duty Bodyguard - not super into the single dad/ having a kid in the story or military PTSD but I still laughed an sped through those books)

I love Emma Scott's writing! The Full Tilt duet is amazing, and I think The Butterfly Project is my favorite of hers so far! Forever Right Now is on my Kindle, can't wait to read that one and many others of hers.

I just discovered Jennifer Hartman. Her authorial voice is so smooth that you are completely involved and feel like you're living with them. I started with the Heat song Duet and I ca not recommend it enough!

I loved a deal with the devil! it was one of my best read last year and I was so excited to read more of Elizabeth O'Roark but the second book in the series was so problematic! the romance was really good but there were a lot of tasteless jokes and statements that I was so confused if I'm reading a book by the same author who wrote "a deal with the devil"!

I think the authors that have been a hit for me since the first book I picked up are Ashley Herring Blake, BK Borison, Courtney Milan, Sarina Bowen, Annabeth Albert, and Abby Jimenez. I'm still catching up on some of their backlist titles, but they have been consistently good for me, as opposed to some other authors whose book ratings have given me whiplash 😂

I can't get into PD books because her stories are so full of plot holes. In Corrupt, Rica wanted to be independent and to stay away from her comfort zone, and goes straight to live in the city of the guy she was running away from and he also is paying for her living situation. If she wanted to be truly independent and outside her bubble, she would go to the other side of the country. In one scene, she is shy, next, she is brave, and it doesn't make sense that she and the male protagonist never talked about that night in 5 years. I can't enjoy the tension because all I see are the plot holes and poor characterization. And the ending of Corrupt was so lame, I was angry because the characters didn't go down with the boat.
